This is my first attempt at growing my medicine. I did grow a plant outside 40 years ago. I just got a bag seed and threw it in my garden. This time I bought a seed at http://original-ssc.com and started the seed in rockwool on March 30. It took four days to pop out of the rockwool. I grew it under a 4 bulb T5 for about three weeks. It never grew tall or had large leaves. It is still one inch tall. It never had roots showing. I put it into my first ever DWC with a DH Farm Kit. I followed the directions I had read on putting the block of rockwool in Hydroton. It has been in there for a couple weeks and has not grown roots out yet. I am using tap water 60ppm at .5 conversion. I Ph'd the water and nutes to 5.5. I am using a fertilizer of my own mix called Master Blend at 25% strength with a NPK of 4-18-38 and Epsom salts. I just got some FloraNova Bloom and plan to use Lucas. But there is a problem now and I am sure it's my fault. I checked the Ph Friday and it was 7.5. Sunday I got this color change. Almost forgot this info, I am using a MARS 2 700 watt from topledgrowlights. I try to keep my nute temp below 65 degrees. Most times my tent temps are 78 - 85 degrees. The seed is La Frutta Di Venus from http://original-ssc.com/delicious-seeds-la-frutta-di-venus.html. I am not doing her justice. She is a feminized autoflower variety. Chosen because I need medicine quickly. I hope the photo shows up in this thread. I have untreated Glaucoma for 6 years and am losing sight fast. I don't think I will have much too fast. So if you can help by what information I have written and the photo I have included, please do. Thanks

Just starting up again your PH can be changed with fertilizers high in acid or a base. Instead of purchasing PH down I get white vinegar which does the exact same thing. A table spoon per gallon andccheck the PH again. Have your fertilizer in the water first check PHand then adjust it with white distilled vinegar.any questions you have ill try and answer them but Im not perfect. Dankster420 is a good guy to ask and has a great handle in different cannabis issues.

Sorry but I changed from tap to Distilled water Friday. The water was 7.0, it is DH2O and I didn't add PH Down because I knew Master Blend lowers Ph from past experience with my Hydroponic tomatoes and veggies outside. I Ph'd after I added fertilizer to water and it was 4.3. So I added PH UP to get it to 5.5. For some reason the nute Ph rose to 7.5 during Saturday, one day later. I normally change the nutes on Friday so it was 5.5 Friday night for sure. This little girl is 35 days old now. Should I just flush her and order more seeds and start again?

The wife allowed me to spend all the bucks to do this "test" of growing my medicine.

I guess my question would then be how long does it take for a germinated seed in rockwool to grow roots? I have good luck with lettuce, Bok Choy and tomatoes from seed. But I have them under the T5s for two months. Thats almost the whole life of an auto.

Thanks for all the answers! I appreciate the time...

It's hard to say what happened but it's been my personal experience that if you stress an autoflower they *stop* growing right in their tracks. You need to get some new seeds and get going again; that one is not going to get you even a bowl of bud. I would recommend some Heavyweight autoflower from Herbies. http://www.herbiesheadshop.com/heavyweight-fast-and-vast-autoflowering-feminised-seeds-4648

I'll definitely add Heavyweight to my wish list. I'm hopefully going to order some more soon and If I can afford the $50 for 3 Heavyweight beans I'd like to try that one. Have you grown it? Is it easy for someone like myself? I blew it on my first grow. Original gives you a free seed with an order but the one I got for free didn't germinate. When I start my garden seeds I add 25% of my fertilizer right off and I am thinking that might have been my trouble. I have been reading and everyone says just use water for the first two weeks. I guess veggies are different. And cannabis isn't like tomatoes. I'd still like to know how long it takes for roots to appear under a 2' four bulb T5 setup. I keep the bulbs 4" above the rockwool or seedling tops.

I agree with the npk numbers but also know that just a product saying it is 4-18-13 the solution also says how much to dilute it. As a new grower my suggestion to those wanting to begin do not buy a hydroponic system to start. I recommend buying two gallon bags and using a 50/50 mix of permits/vermiculite. I would start out with miracle grow for food. 18/18/21 for veg and continue for 5/8s of flowering. After that switch to 15-30-15 to for the rest of flowering. Except flush the plants w straight water during the last week. Only feed in the vegetative state every third watering. Half gallon of water per bag is about perfect. After about 2 weeks the plants will use the water every other day. Get a moisture meter to check the moistness. Super thrive is bar none the best micro nutrients come in a bottle and you only need to add one drop per gallon called super thrive that can be purchased at walmart. Depending on your room size that will make your decision on the watts you decide. In veg halide is better and the HPS will yellow leaf tips making a novice think they may have a different issue which its the red light doing the tips to yellow even will yellow leaves. HPS is more desirable in flowering I which I had a Sun circle that had one HPS and two halide lights. All 1000w. Which is overkill if you have a small room. That is my opinion and artworks great. As a matter of fact it is a hydroponic type system and with everything I expressed in this post I can have probably higher yields and taste is pulled out through curing your finished plants. Keep in mind I have never grown any autos. Its just something I wouldn't have as much fun. I love watching the seed or clone grow through the vegetative state and then flower. Just me.

maybe try starting them in seed starter or coco then wash the roots clean and carefully move it to the dwc
you dont have access to bag seed's you can practice with? auto's are a pain in the ass to transplant or hell even start sometimes if the medium is too wet the stunt like crazy
if all else fails and you need meds quick get a 3 gal pot organic potting soil no time release ferts perlite and some seed starter cut the soil half and half with perlite keeps you from over watering and put a party cup sized pocket in the middle of the pot to plant your seed seedling auto's are highly nute sensitive at young ages then water just the seed starter area with a spray bottle dont soak the pot alot of times the seedlings wont recover from a water logged pot and autos like high drainage

and after the seed pops within a week roughly you should have enough roots to move it to your system
you should post in the auto section we need some fresh faces to keep us occupied over there :D

with hydro you have like hours to fix any issue with your plant or it dies lol. thats why i love soil :)

So many things wrong i dont know where to start. Its a terrible plant bro and your flogging a dead horse here.
Start again, use quality coco and hydro nutes from the hydro shop, not some homemade nutes that are wrong for growing dope.
Get some more exp as a grower before attempting DWC again.

I agree with what most have said - when I started growing I wanted to do hydro but my equipment supplier advised against it saying that there is "too much that can go wrong with hydro". Even now that I have a few grows under my belt I still don't feel ready to try hydro, maybe in a couple years.

However now I guess you have acquired all the hydro equipment... if you really wanna stick with hydro spend some time on this site, there are so many helpful guys here who really know what they're doing with hydro. Maybe they can help you sort out your setup.

I agree with you on the hydroponic systems. I have 15 years of experience and can grow using hydroponics or with a couple other indoor systems. I also like outdoor cultivation. But to me why use a system that is more time consuming and problematic when using potting soil or other mediums produce the same results. Plants originally all were from outdoors so I go with a system that does as good as anyone growing with hydroponic systems for indoors. Whats great about it is I can leave go camping and when I come home my ladies are bigger and didn't gain new problems that I would have to deal with. When i have problems it almost always is from trying something different. Also no system is perfect and you always can learn something new. I only break out my hydro system when I have plenty of time or just feel like trying out new strains that supposedly require it. Not true for any strain I learned. Don't use Shultz potting soil it has something that is not cannabis friendly.

I have been doing hydro for a few years growing outside. Tomatoes in a cross between hempy and DWC with a 12 gallon rez and a 4" pvc with lettuce and bok choy in an NFT like affair. I have no problems with that. I have tomatoes through til November and eat lettuce and bok choy til it too hot for them. I'll try to insert a picture of my system but I'm not very experienced. Next I'll try a hempy and I have alread got some GH Floranova nutes. Instead of rockwool I will try Root Riot Plugs. All of your suggestions are appreciated. I wish I hadn't tried DWC first.
