Hydroponics system rootound?

alright. i have 5 baby (girls i hope) in a hydro system. there only a week old right now.. so no sence in pics at this time.. what my biggest question is this. i have 4 seperated starter trays (the standard trays you'll find in about any garden center) i have modified them to work with my hydro system by cutting a notch all the way down the botem edge on each side to allow roots to escape. now as i've read alot of ppl here saying that each plant should have its own pot.. however i assume the bigest reason for this is so they dont get root bound. and im wondering if the way i have set this up will it work out fine. my hydro system has a 5 Gal Res so the roots should mainly collect in the res. also.. the reason im doing it this way is i've tried both rockwool and jiffy peat pellets and i've wasted about 25-40 seeds in combination with no success.. i took thease trays loaded them with peat moss that has milrical grow in it. and the first one poped up the next day.. so i said well this works i can just modify thease trys to work with my system.. so i did.. and things are so far working great.. but only concern i have at the moment is will the roots do what i want and collect down in the res rather than bind up in the trays.. i dont see how they could as i cut the entire bottem corner off each side but its best to ask...

Thanks
