Hydroponic Reservoir Draining Question

Is it alright to allow my roots to hang suspended in the air out of the bottom of the net pots but not in any sort of reservoir. I would like to allow the water to drain directly back into the reservoir. I am using a pump with fifteen minute intervals and I allow the stream to flow right out the tube, I don't use drip emitters..

What Kind of operation are you running? In my setup my pump is running 24/7 which I don't think hurts anything. I have aero clone misster nozzles spraying my roots. As your res never goes dry and you never have power interruptions for any long period of time you should be fine. I'm thinking of incorporating DWC into mine.

Exposed roots to light and air will prune and rot them away. Aeroponics is designed to keep the roots in an enclosed enviorment where they remain 'moist'.
