My grow room is basically a spare bedroom. Before I did anything in it, I layed down a HUGE tarp over the carpet. It didn't cover the closet, so I layed down black plastic sheeting int there. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Tonight, I found my carpet was soaking wet between the closet and the room. It's obvious the leak is stemming from that area, and has gotten carpet wet under the tarp in the main room too (although not as bad). I can't pull the tarp up because of soooooo many things on it, and that is also why I'm not sure the extent of damage.

What the heck would you guys do right now? I'm trying to mop some of it up wit towels but I don't think that will get it all. I'm worried about mold.

Dry it as much as possible. A Girls hair dryer. Then patch the hole. If you have a spot bot, use it

depends how wet ,most times i would say pull the plastic if water has penitrated. if carpet is left wet it will start to stink and grow mold

I personally would move everything, pull up the tarp and wet vacuum the entire rug. If it looked bad I might tear the carpet up and let the sub floor dry. Mold and rot are not fun and it isn't really fair to your landlord - if this is your own place definitely do this unless you're rich and just don't give a fuck.

you must completely dry that moisture under the tarp. if that means moving alot of stuff....thats what you gotta do. otherwise mold, rot, and stinky ol mildew will be a constant issue until it IS all dried up, could take months

Thanks for the input guys. I do own the place and I ended up busting out the razor knife and cutting out the affected carpet area. I'm just going to have to replace the carpet if I ever sell the place.
