Hydro Growing or Soil??

Hey everyone,

I'm currently a little over 2 weeks into flowering using Hydro, my next grow is going to be larger with a 1000 Watt HPS light. What advantages and Disadvantages using either Soil or Hydro. I know now that Hydro isn't all that hard, but being in a large Tote and single buckets water changes suck, checking each bucket's tds and Ph sucks. If you were going to do 5 gallon buckets indoors, what soil would you start with? I've read alot of good stories about Promix. With Promix, is anything else needed?

Next grow 12 5 gallon buckets, Soil or Hydro????

Thanks,
Virginhydro

I say do soil and look up on RIU super soil.... let it live. you do not need all the expensive chemicals. NO WATER CHANGES. FULL FLAVOR AND AROMA. yummy stuff.

I grow both Hydro and Soil.

Hydro is fun and is a cool hobby for me. I like the science aspect of it but it's definitely more time consuming than soil grows. I don't want to say it is hard, just have to stay on top of it.
If you are going to grow in soil then I suggest Roots Organics grow mix simply because I have had great results from it and it is 100% organic. I also like their line of nutrients, not too expensive and does the job.
Soil will take a little longer than hydro and both ways produce dank ass buds, so I guess it just really depends on how easy you want it to be

With 12.5 gallon pots and a 1000W light you will have problems. Doesn't make sense to have huge pots if you aren't going to
grow huge plants. A 1000W light generates a lot of heat and big plants will seek it out. When they get too close they burn.
So count on using a lot of space and height.

I use 3 gallon pots in my 1000W system but I have my plants on a 24-inch high bench. That way I can manage up to 12 plants
without running into the light. I prefer shorter bushier plants like the indigas.

Good luck, BigSteve.
