Humidity-1 Me-0

I just cannot seem to get the humidity up in my tent. I've tried a pan of water right in front of my intake fan, cups of water, wet towel. The temp/humidity meter keeps showing below 40.

Anyone have any easy ways that I can raise it up?

go to wal-mart. ask a person who works there to show you where the humidifiers are. pick one out. buy it. then use it

they are a lot cheaper than dehumidifiers too.

An open pan of water won't increase the humidity significantly b/c the air temp isn't hot enough to cause vaporization (mmm, vaporization). If you're a boy scout and you have an electric and/or portable stove, boil some water on it. Get a humidifier if u have like $25... uh, or just piss all over your plants and your grow walls.

i heard pissing all over your indoor grow areas keeps deer, rabbits, spider mites, and people from fucking with your crop :bigjoint:

A humidifier won't be too much in a tent? I have one that is laying around, I figured it would be overkill.

Hi, get a humidistat you can plug in the wall and has a receptacle to plug in the humidifier. Then it won't ever be overkill.

if you think fulltime is overkill then you can put your humidfier oustide your grow near the intake & put it on a timer to cut on X amount of times for Y amount of time throughout the day. Watch the humidity in the room & play around w/ X & Y until you get the results you want.

I unfortunately have the opposite problem. I have a humidity of around 65 & as far as I have heard that's too high, 40-50 is right isn't it? I don't really have much room for throwing a humidifier in there as everything is completely over packed & overcrowded right now. Should soon be able to have another light in 1 week & everything will be split up so that thru the rest of flower they will have plenty of room. Err @ least more room, lol. on day 8 of flower now, should have another light on day 15.

& by packeed i mean really packed. 24 plants, most of which are about 30" tall all packed into an area 44" x 62". like 16 of them are about 30" & the other 8 are 20-24" or so & up on a riser to get the tops high enough to get some light. Totally overdid it. But they are under 1000w & in 1 week should have another 600w and then they will be split up 9 under 600w & 15 under 1000w. Then I'm hoping they will be ok thru flower & next time will be better prepared & better informed & flower MUCH sooner.

Anyhow sorry, not trying to thread-jack here. just got a little carried away w/ my train of thought. But as for your thing I think a humidifier would be great. on a timer if needed.

i have a dehumidifier outside the tent, but it is controlled from a c.a.p. controller inside the tent. when the humidity is too high inside the tent the controller powers up the dehumidifier and i duct taped a 4 inch aluminum duct on where the dehumidifier exhausts and that runs directly into the tent.

it works great and reduces the time that the dehumidifier has to stay on. before i had the dehumidifier just keeping the outside room to a certain humidity level. now it runs much less, very seldom actually. as long as it keeps the humidity under 70% my carbon filter should last over a year :bigjoint:

The only problem you might encounter with putting one of those in a tent is the heat it produces. I have never even seen a humidifier in person so I'm not speaking from direct experience but I had a reverse problem in my tent because of the ac I had going into it which raised my humidity to 80% sometimes. For that reason I bought a dehumidifier which worked great and brought my rh down to 45 except it put an incredible amount of heat in my tent. Not only did it increase the temps but because I had it set on 45 it would turn off once it got to 45 and my temps would decrease dramatically but then increase again once the humidity got back above 45. When my dehumidifier was on I had a constant temp of 77 while it ran but with it off I can keep it at 71 easily. So you just have to figure out what works best for you.

like i was saying, put the dehumidifier or humidifier outside the tent and control if from inside, that way the thing runs way cooler because it runs way less

The one I have is pretty small, I don't think it would produce much heat. I'll throw it into the tent and toy around with how many hours I need to set the timer for.
