hps on light socket adapter?

i was wondering if its possible to place a 150w HPS bulb just barebulb on a lightsocet adapter and hook it up into a power strip???

No. That is a good way to start a fire. A 150 needs a ballest with a capacitor to properly fire the filament. And once fired normal power can keep it running.

I was about to say "sure that's a wonderful idea.....if you want to crisp and smoke the house" lol

yeah PLZ DON'T DO THAT MAN. you NEED a ballast with HID lights. HID lights use an immense voltage that your regular socket cannot provide. It needs a ballast to give you the juice needed to power those suckers up. Just like HID lights in cars. It tells you right on it warning 25 000 volts blah blah blah.

i blame the OP for the fact that i have to dig through a pile of taped up, obviously returned HPS bulbs every time i need a replacement.

What everybody else said.

$100.00 will get you a complete 150W kit. If you cannot afford that, try CFL's.
