HPS/MH light

It should just plug in and go.Do you have digital ballast that has a switch from hps to mh?Or is the mh bulb a conversion to work on your hps system?

if iy does not have a switch then u need a mh conversion bulb witch really isnt worth using, it would be better to just veg under the hps

try switching the volts maybe that's it. i don't know though I've never owned a convertible ballast.

Edit : I just googled it and they will have a switch if it is a switchable ballast. Try emailing HID Hut

Not true...I recently got a MH conversion bulb and it works far better in veg than my EYE Hotilux HPS did

I just know its a digital ballast, and both bulbs came with it. I looked all over for a switch but couldn't find one. Didn't know if there might be a switch inside, or if the MH bulb was just bad. And now I have a second question. Can u tell if the bulb is burned out or not going to work just by looking at it?

a conversion bulb does not put out as many lumans per watt as a MH or HPS. it still works well but IMO not as well

It's a 600 watt metal halide conversion, it puts out 55,000 lumens. A 400 watt MH puts out 36,000 lumens and a 1000 watt MH puts out 99,000 lumens, so I would say it's right on track. They don't make 600 watt MH ballasts and yes it worked far better in veg than the HPS bulb I was using before. I just switch the conversion bulb to my HPS bulb when I flower. It's a great alternative to buying a separate ballast.

I agree with this..I have a mh conversion bulb and it does fine for me.Keeps my plants short, green and bushy.

i have a 600 watt hps/mh conversion witch means i can run a hps bulb and a mh conversion bulb and the conversion bulb is not as well. i nver said it didnt work ot it worked shity. im not going to argue i knw what it is. you put a bunch of numbers up for differnt watt lights.
peace.

Either there is something messed up with this ballast or I just made a stupid mistake. Here is what happened, I took the cover off the ballast looking for a switch, but couldn't find anything. Tried turning it on again and now neither bulb was working. I was plugging in the ballast to the wall outlet then plugging in the light. So i tried plugging in the light then plugging in the ballast into the wall outlet and both bulbs worked. Is this normal?
