HPS Light Investment Advice

Hey there, just looking for a little advice in the lighting department. I am currently beginning my first grow in a box/tent that I constructed of 2x2x5 (wxdxh) and need some advice on what light to purchase once it's time to begin flowering.

Many of the fixtures that I have seen on the internet between 150w - 400w are pretty similar in price. I am wondering how much higher than 150w i could go now in the box box i described while growing 1-3 plants so that in the future I could potentially grow more plants in a larger space without having to purchase another light.

- Even more importantly, i guess, what might be an appropriately powered hps fixture for a 2x2 to 4x4' space?

thanks all.;-)

A 400 watt hps will cover a 3ft x 3ft area perfectly,if it were my decision i'd be going with the 400 watt hps,its better to have extra light than not to have enough light, the added light will give better buds at lower levels of the plant.

400 would be perfect, I got mine with with an internal ballast because I liked how the ballast and bulb were housed in the same unit but the downside is that it makes the fixture really heavy, and the ballast gives of a lot of heat. An external one can be housed outside the growroom to help keep temperatures down. I would also have bought a reflector that has a duct on it so that you can hook up tubing to it if you wish to air cool the bulb. alowing you to keep the plants closer to the light

250 would be perfect for 2x2, but 4x4 needs a 600. You need to narrow your plans down better because a 600w in a 2x2 space even temporarily is just too much.

If you can't narrow it down you'll just have to settle on a 400.
