How would you light a 8' X 16" room for budding?

Hello all, If you had a bare 16 X 8 room how would you light it for budding? I was thinking about three 600's on light rails four feet apsrt with the rails running six feet. Would I have enough light going that route? Or would you go with something else? New to growing under multiple lights. I plan to air cool the lights and need a little help on that also...THANKS! :eyesmoke:

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, eight 1000 watters would be nice. Until I got the electric bill...
I figure the actual foot print needing lit up will be about 12 X 8 thus allowing me a little room to get around to all the plants. I'm thinking about six foot rails spaced four feet apart with a 600 hanging from each one. Something else I am curious about. Do they make a motor big enough to handle all three lights, moving them at the same time, with one motor?
I thought you could hang the lights on a bar with the motor on the center rail and just wheels on the two outside rails to help guide it along. If anyone is running a set up with one motor moving three lights up and down rails I'd love your input on it. Or if anyone has a link for the movers that would be great also. THANKS in advance for any help you guys can give me on setting up my flower room...

i've been thinking about this myself, gonna bud 20 or so at a time. i'm just deciding whether to use 600's or 1000's, i know it makes a difference, but not sure how much... thinking 4 600's stationary, or 2-3 1000's on rails, about the same price. of course you gotta worry about your ducting getting caught up or pulling off when the lights are on rails...

Dude go with 2 1000's on a circular track. I heard someone on another thread talking about a light mover that followed a circular track .. And im pretty sure a 600W on a light mover is better then atleast one stationary 1000W so you would save your electric bill with two 1000's

THANKs again for the input! I think I would rather run three 600's than two 1000's. I've seen comparisons and what I have saw three 600's are better than two 1000's.?? But still something to think about. Circular light movers seem better suited for rooms that are square. My room is twice as long as it is wide (8' X 16'). So maybe the rails would provide better coverage. Has anyone used the light mover in the link below? Say's it will handle 90 lbs. of weight. I need to check into this one further. http://www.4hydroponics.com/lighting/lightrail5.asp

u should just use what u can handle, if u cant light up all of the room with the right amount of light then go smaller..cause ur going to need atlest 6 X 1000watts to cover the 12 x 8 area...why not run 2 1000s on a 4x8 footprint 1st and go from there?...MEANGREEN.

jsut playin..pump as many HIDs in that space as u can fit without breaking the heat issues in2 concern..i seen plenty of sealed rooms with a split a/c ductless systems that seem to work great..
