How to vent a tent properly.

Ok so I have a tent and it has a 4" carbon fan/filter mounted up top. Air is exhausted via ducting, and comes in via a mesh covered rectangular intake. My question is what if I closed that intake, and want to pull fresh air in through another port? As the other ports arnt designed to be the intake, would I install a short length of ducting, and maybe put some mesh, panty hose, or something over the mouth of the ducting, in order to stop foreign debris from getting inside? As long as I close off the other ports, fresh air will passively intake wherever I have an open port right?

Should be fine. Take some panty hose and stretch it over the end of the duct like you said. Works as a good filter
