how to use my space?

i am in the process of building a 6x2x8 flowering room and would like to hear your options for my space.
the lighting is gunna be 2 400w hps in cool tubes and a nice squearll cage.
im trying to get a max yield per square foot.
should i have two rows of 5? thats 1sq ft per plant. with a res in the other ft.
should i have just 3 plants giving them 4sq ft ea?

and how long of veg time?
if i was gunna do the 3 plants i would like a yield of at least 3 oz per plant.
and a two/three month veg time.

if i did the 2 rows of five what would my limit for best veg time be for max yield in a 1sq ft area :/? if i did that id like 1oz per plant.

am i being unreasonable with these hopes?

depends on the genetics you decide on as far as yields and required space. Do you want variety? or you just looking for fat weight?

I recommend u grow a sativa dominant strain since u don't have much room. The number of plants wont increase your yeild, the amount of light will. 2 400s is plenty of light for 6-8 plants for a good yeild. General rule of thumb is 50 watts per square foot, of course the more the better. So I think u would be best either doing 2 rows of 3 or 4 plants. LSTing will also help u use your space bettter. Check out my closet grow in my sig its in a 4x2 space.

yea i get that but am i going to get the same yield from the same genetics whether i have 4 plants or 10 plants in the grow room? and will the length of veg make a difference if light is the limiting factor?
basically what i am stuck between is having
8 plants plants all flowering at the same with 2 month veg.
2 set for 4 plants one month apart (8 plants)with a one month veg. i.e. harvest twice as often
or
4 plants with a 2 month veg
or 2 sets of 2 with a one month veg.
i really am trying to get a good weight.
my goal would be a pound for all 8
and a half pound for the twice as often harvest
i know that i high aim but a goal is a goal :P

Yes ur yeild will around the same, bigger and more dense nugs if u do 4 plants since they will be getting more light. I would recommend you do a constant cycle of veg and flowering plants. This way you are constantly growing and not wasting time. A month of veg is plenty for your space. My indicas got about 12 x 12in within a month under a 400w.

Yeah 4 plants per 400w. General rule is 100 watts per plant for good yeild. If ur looking for more yielf try to find a high yeilding strain
