most nitrogen deficiencies (or what one believes to be a nitrogen deficiency) do not occur from not having enough nitrogen in the medium, but rather due to lack of chemical balance in the medium (pH, over-nute, etc.). fix this and the problem will be solved. give more N, and the problem may get worse.
