Hey. Im being treated for bipolar and bpd. The docs don't like us being on psychotics as they cause psychosis. They also think its why Im bipolar and then in fact Im not bipolar to them then because it was the pot causing it. Of course last car accident I dindt smoke at all the whole day.
How do you all talk to your doctors about your health problems and then have to deal with their bias off limited research? I'm lying to them next time and say Im an occasional user.
Cannabis like many drugs is metabolized via the Cytochrome P450 pathway that also metabolizes many of the psychotropic and other medications doctors may prescribe for you.
We know very little about its' metabolization and interaction with other drugs. They are just beginning trials to figure this out.
In the meantime I can't imagine any psychiatrist being comfortable giving you antipsychotics, neuroleptics or any other type of drug they commonly use. Cannabis is a Schedule 1 drug and if they were treating you knowing you use Cannabis there could be uncomfortable legal ramifications, no matter what current literature you have that states otherwise.
It's not that they are stupid, or biased, it's that they worked very hard to help others and jeopardizing that life's work isn't something you should expect from them. Instead use your time and this energy to lobby your representatives to end prohibition.
