How To: RCDWC/UCDWC

due to popular demand here we go, ill put up the pics then a explanation, if that doesnt help you then ask away!!30L autopots
210mm net pots fit perfect! mark and cut!

2.5" hole saw for 1.5" (40mm) uniseals that i used, u can use tank fittings instead.

this is how the 19mm fittings will go , the pump in my 60L remote external res! hailea 3000lph!

res with uni seals in ready to go!

i used 1.5" waste pipe and pushfit elbow to join all the return lines together, the returns are so big as i recirculate at high speed as im not using airstones!

now for the feed line/waterfall effect style feeds! 19mm irrigation tubing

heres the self cutting clamp the inline pump and ud return it to a t piece in the res, its a mock up so just imagine all the lines are there lol.......

self cutting outlet clamp....used for washing machine waste, got it in B and Q they should do them any plumbers or hardware store, dont know if this sites us or uk as im new here, just came to se hiesenbergs tea bit and seen a huge DWC following so thought why not stay around, so heres my bit for the comunity done!!!

So do you just control the level of the buckets by changing the level of the main res? I'd like to set my RO system to fill my res and just use a float to control the height. I was under the impression i'd need an extra "control" bucket, but it seems you are doing it with just your 4 grow buckets and 1 res. I assume because the drain pipes are at the bottom, all the buckets share the same water level as the res.

Just making sure I totally understand.

It always keeps the same level because it's recirculating... Depends what you star with...

sorry i never seen this sooner yeah u dont need a control bucket as well as a res, the level is the same theough out. as the 19mm black tubin feeds the tops of my buckets creating waterfall and DO the level pulls water back through the 1 1/2'' returns so its recirculating easy as pie :)

So simple yet so effective..

What size pump did you use again...?

So how often do you replace Rez?

And when you adjust ph... How long do you wait to make sure all water has recirculated for correct readings?

You mentioned it flooded a few times... Why and what happened?

How did you start your seedlings?

What was your nute schedule..?

I've been looking everywhere I can think of and can't manage to find containers like the ones you're using here to hold the net pots. May I ask where you found them?

i use really usefull boxes now google them. 3000lph pump was used

i have the ph adjusting to a fine art, a couple of drops then come back in ten mins and re ajust if need be the ph buffers in the nutes should do the work for u though at the ec i run thinngs at 1.0 in veg n 1.2-1.4 in flower

My biggest question when it comes to RDWC is, what is the easiest way of draining/ cleaning out the system ? right now I just make up my new nute mix in a fresh bucket, drop the cover/net pot on it, all done. wash out the old bucket set it aside for the next swap out.

I figure if im somehow switching the RDWC pump to a drain line out, its still going to leave a residual amount of crap in the system.
