I have a trailer with a 80 amp panel only. I am looking to upgrade to a 200 or 320 amp panel? The main pole is at the well house and then travels to the trailer which is about 140 feet or so. everything will need to be upgraded out side on consumers end. im out in the country and there is 80 achers of farm land that i own with it. What is the best way to ask and let them know i want to upgraed my service? i rent the farm land out, so is there a way to say i need the power that way for farming some how? Thanks for the help..

Consult an electrician. He can do the work and sign off in at, then Consumers would come out for inspection, if I'm not mistaken. Parents had their power line buried, and that was the process they went through it believe.

When I set up a 200amp service to our out bldg I just told them we needed it to run equipment. Lift, welder, ect..
I'm not sure if you're in a legal state or not but I'd think for a farm it shouldnt be an issue. There's a few electricians on the forum. Hopefully they'll be along to offer a more helpful definitive answer.

Your welding hobby/business will need a lot of amperage and I have seen plenty of sites where consumers installed a pole and meter box for future projects
Then you just hire an electrician to tie up lose ends and viola
