How often do you use additives?

i am trying to gain more experience with growing/different nutrient lines and additives. right now im using AN for my current grow which is almost 2 weeks old from seeds. 8 days of veg so far plants are doing amazing compared to past grows even with my cat eating them.

i am testing out pro mix so far it's only been a day and im liking it.

I am confused and trying to put together my own personal feeding schedule and so far i've come up with Base nutes at 1/8th the strength every watering ( about every 2-3 days ), voodoo juice once every 2 weeks, Myko's ( only during transplant ).

i am thinking of adding all my other supplements such as silica, b vitamins, etc.. once per week but i am wondering is this too much? too little?

IMO I don’t use anything besides basic nutrients in veg with a little cal mag if needed. In flower the first 3 weeks get the veg nutrients and when a bud forms I start the flower nutrients with big bud and every 3 weeks I give molasses.

yea i've tried this method before with my fox farm trio minus the tiger bloom using something else for that ( aurora bloom ) the growth is ight.. but i wanted to test out these supplements for this grow but shit is just confusing i don't want to follow a feed chart because everytime i do that i fuck up in some way adding too much nutrients usually or too less or it's just missing something. it's mainly just for experiment though idc about all the hype shit just looking at growth and quality as i test products for myself.

I switched to Jacks 321 and the plants love it. You can use it from seedling to harvest and don't have to screw with calmag
or anything else. The mix is completely customizable.

Hi there if you want to take your grow skills a little further you need to learn how much N P K Ca Mg S you are feeding your plants in elements PPM using CannaStats or hydrobuddy and then you will know what additives you need. Unfortunately most of the nutrients companies keep this elements separated in different bottles of nutrients so they can make more $$$.
I hope it helps.

good luck and happy growing.

I'm a strong believer in the K.I.S.S. method. I have tried additives and various nutrient lines and stopped with it all years ago. I've found that a balanced simple nutrient throughout the grow leads to healthier and happier plants that taste great and yield well.

Do I MAX out yield by toying with numbers and ratios every week? No

Does my weed taste so good and sell so fast that I literally can't grow it fast enough? Yes

I average about .8 g/w , but with the right strains in my tray that goes over 1 easily. I get nearly zero larf bud and I have no need to "flush" or any of the other bro-science because I try to feed them just what they need and nothing extra.

I'll also leave this here since I stumbled on it earlier today and its fitting. https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/blog-why-you-should-not-use-grow-boosters-or-extra-nutrients-n94

im just testing out products for personal use. don't grow for patients or anything. figure i get as much experimenting out of my system now before i start to really focus on the flavor and yields. im sure the weed i grow isn't amazing though but hell you come here smoke the shit people give you it's better then that. tastes like hay but smells okay.

This is how we all learn, by experience. I think it's nice you are trying different things. If you are interested in an well planned comparison read how @Fat Manatee set up his side by side.
https://www.rollitup.org/t/defoliation-side-by-side-discussion-welcome.981631/

I think the only mistake he made was his definition of defoliation vs pruning. But that is how we do science :) we are public about our research methods and study design and each time we learn more.

It's encouraging to see you guys thinking, questioning and posting your own research, keep up the good work.

That sounds awesome man! I encourage everyone to try things out, and see what works best for them. I've known growers at both ends of the spectrum. One of my good grower friends(that I taught to grow) thinks I'm crazy for not flushing my plants and for not using all the additives. Try new stuff one at a time so you can tell what does what! Any time you can try to do a side by side with plants so you can see the effect of using and not using a product or growing technique. If possible I suggest growing from clone when you are testing out new things so you can see how they affect the exact same plant instead of mixed genetics.

I learned many years ago that there are TONS of awesome ways to grow great weed. I try to make a point of sharing what I do and have learned so others can learn from it too. Sometimes that means trying things I do, sometimes it means learning from my mistakes. That's what's great about RIU we can all learn from each other.

yea i love to experiment thats generally how i learn and how my career is can't gain skills when you dont try new things regardless it works or not. yea im trying to get into clones but might be my next run. i want to clone this strain people say is good but never smoked it before. Pineapple chunk it called. got it for free but only have 1 seed.

im like you im teaching my friend who got me into growing how to grow XD he doesn't want to listen to me though but im showing him my results and all the research and info i get from other growers on here. i eventually want to turn it into some sort of business because i work as a cook trying to be an aspiring chef and want to make edibles. if i could get paid just to grow that would be even better though but can't really find any partners locally that i trust to seriously start a growing business. investing the money and time is nothing hard part is finding people who share the same aspects and enthusiasm to grow for a living and experiment on new shit/take the loss. if anything i can always just do it as a hobby like i am right now

thanks for the links i'll try and switch up my feeding so i dont fuck up my plants besides maybe my grow nutes still going to try and run them 1/8th for now or at least every other day. with the pro mix i should see better results though because im not watering once a week anymore so i can get more consistent feedings in at lesser dosages though.

i'll check up that pruning thread on monday when im off. was planning to prune this grow much more then my current flowering grow but i was unsure on wth i was really doing. still trying to look up other stuff as well like scrog but idk if my grow space will allow for a good scrog or it just a waste of time and money.

my grow space is 2x6x9 only have 1 light and 3 plants so can't really get much use out of a scrog i would think
