how much water do you give your new seedlings

hi im new to this site and growing i just planted my germinated seed in a 5 gallon pot how much water should i be giving it

damp not wet. 5 gallon pot is big for seedlings and will take some time to go dry.

The best rule of thumb I know of is don't let the soil dry out.

Even when the soil on top is dry then the soil below it is probably wet... to determine if your soil is truly dry .. stick your finger into the dirt and see if its damp

Just water it enough to get the top soil wet... dont water it enough till water comes out the bottom... thats called flushing and that can kill your plants.... i would say 1 cup of water would be sufficient
