a determing factor for square ft. vs. quantity of light

since we know that plants like a lumen content around 3000 per sq. foot. We need to determine sq. footage to determine the amount of light to use.. Here's how to determine square footage: lets say you have a grow room that is 4ftx4ft. multiply both numbers and you will get the sq. footage. In this case we have 16 sq feet. Lets say I'm running a 1000 watt HPS light that produces around 107,000 lumens. Divide the 107,000 by your square footage (16). This total for this formula would be 6,687 lumens per square foot. A very easy formula for multiple lumen numbers. Just follow the above and you will see if your giving your plants the good stuff or not...
