what up my peoples? i have a slight dilemma. i payed attention in chemistry while n high school, back n days of 98 to 02. had only 2 science courses, chemistry n physics. 4 years, 2 classes 0 retained . hence my question, in my closet i want to put a co2 producer via gallon jug, water, sugar, n yeast. how much does this put out, can i let leak 4 a day n not worry bout it killing a 6'5 180 lb man? any advice on this deadly matter would be greatly appreciated, later my peeps. g

my grow has 4 of those jugs your talkin about...im in a 4x4grow area...i sleep next to my box...never had a problem plants use up the co2 really befor it builds up to toxic levels...

you would need way more then that to kill anything with that, a mouse would even make it unharmed besides the headaches it gone get;)

eureka! i tell u what yall some pretty damn intelligent intellectuals. i didnt think bout it like that. my space is similar, closet small area. i guess i was really concerned bout when my kid sleeps wit me, shes some months. but since the plant uses it b4 bcoming toxic less worries. man that was a fast response, remind me of da matrix. lol

also, CO2 is heavier then air, so it will rather flow over your floor as a fog if it accumulates, just like stage fog which is from dry ice/ solid CO2;) as long you stay a foot above the floor you pretty save even if something builds up there:D

i looked it up again, it takes about 8% to kill a human, if you can push it up to .3% you damn good in your grow, natural would be around .038%;)

i appreciate the advice. i have used 3 Tbsp active yeast, 5 &1/2 cups sugar, 1/2 gal water 1gal jug. its one baby in 10" pot 3x3x2 space one fan, four 46w cfls i put 1/2 strength MG all purp in the under soil reservoir and left the co2 producer wit it for the first time. i hope my efforts over the next few wks r for a female, hermie worst case. appreciate all advice. ill keep every1 updated

Yer foolin yerself if you think that the yeast trick is producing enough CO2 to harm you...or to benefit your plants...

just a mucky mess...and most grower will find their time better spent in other areas/aspects of the grow. Lighting/ventilation, etc.

good luck

does it not produce enough? how many does one plant need in such a confined space? do u have any relatively cheap alternatives?

thats a Repable post there !!!!!

plants use as mush as you can give them but he is right you put off more co2 than 4 jugs. i dont even worry about co2 till flower.

If your not using HID lighting, forget co2 altogether, and dont waste your time on a home brew either, another waste of time altogether.

Adding supplemental CO2 will benefit the plants only if they are CO2-limited. Which means that, at ambient CO2 levels, the canopy is light-saturated. This is pretty difficult to achieve with CFLs.
Peace

I concur with the previous posts. I used the yeast/sugar method and I don't think it really made a difference in my grow. Focus on good lighting and good nutes for the best results.
