In yalls profesional oppinion, How many lights is too many? I want to be growing as much as possible, with as little risk of getting busted as possible.. I was thinking about 2 1000W for the vegging on a 18/6 scheduel and switching to 2 1000w hps on a 12/12 or 13/11, but anyways. Would it be ok for me to add any lights to that? or is that pushing the envolope as it is?

I wanna be running the lights at the same time in diffrent rooms, a vegging and flowering room.

I would think you if you were running 2 1k HPS in flowering you wouldnt need a full 2K in vegging. Plants don't need as much light in vegging. Maybe a 1k in vegging in 2 1000s in flowering

Thats sounds right /\

Also how big of a space are you growing in, what are you doing with the heat, smell, and exhaust air?

Veg under 1 1000w and flower under 3
I concur they just need enough light to stay alive in veg which is not much, put all the light in the flower room as that is where it will really matter. Whats the room size though?

more light more branchs, roots, and possibly more yeild got to remember outside theres 10,000w per sq ft but indoors heat would be the problem with getting 10,000w in one sq ft.. i have 5 1000w in a 10x22 shed all aircooled tho

im moving to another location for the grow. Starting fresh. you think a 3k watts of hps for 1k of mh light? damn.. I was plannen on putting that right down the middle. id like to at least start off with 20 plants, and expand from there. I don't see 20 plants fitting under 1 mh bulb =(.. any recomendations on that?

Your shed is almost as big as my house! can I live there?

The more light the better as long as you can manage the heat and keep the leaf tips from burning.
Hell I would tell you to 4 k on flower and go buy an assload of 4' or 8' flouro's for veg. As long as you can manage the heat and smell.....

It's not WATTS per sq. ft. It's LUMENS per sq foot. Wattage is the amount of power that your system draws. A LUMEN is a measure of the percieved power of light. LUMENS folks,...not watts.

FYI 600 watters are the most efficient ballasts available, and if air-cooled properly can run very close to the canopy.

I would run banks of 600w lamps a foot above the canopy. You can use a lot this way and have very even light distribution to the canopy.
