How many plants should I grow in this planter?

I know it should be 2 just so the roots don't get tangled but I wanna do 3 just so theres a bigger chance one of them is female. I have limited growing space so yeah.The planter is 2 x .5 x .5 ft large.

I would put at max 2,maybe 3,bearing in mind over all yield will be the same 1 plant would get larger, but yield less than 2 though, though see what other people say too

I use a 1.5 x 1.5 x 0.5ft depth washing up tub with holes in the bottom,though I use that for 1 plant,that is like 1.5 gallons I think roughly

If you do more than 1 you should place some sort of dividing wall to keep the roots from getting entangled. Stay high.
