That depends on you. Longer vegetation translates to potentially larger plants which could lead to more yield. Your know how to grow and genetics of the strain your doing up will greatly influence your grow. Just take into consideration your flower room space. Glance at what your current plant is in vegetation multiply it by 2-3 times its size and that is what you can expect once you switch the photoperiod in the first 3 weeks when the growth spurt occurs.

35 liters pots .. thats kind a big .. atlest 6 weeks I would say .. if you got the space and light . but I reccon you do since you choose so big pots ..

if you choose to FIM/top I would give em a week more ..

I had mine in 7 gallons =26,5 liter and I gave mine +7 weeks from seed .. +5 week of veg. but I also FIM/LST mine ..

but now I mouch rather have 4 smaller plants then two larges once .. easy to handle .. less grow time = less problems .. fast haverst and about same yild or more .. at the cost of a few seeds/seedlings .. but with less power used per grow ..

also need to consider light penetrations .. even with HPS light .. tall plants wont grow good buds low down ..
so with indoor I like 4 weeks veg (2 weeks seedlings) so 6 weeks before 12/12 .. keep em small and bushy with a even canarby ..

unless .. you have a barn full of 1000W HPS .. but then I guess you wont be on here ..

I personally go by the height of the plant. If it is an indica strain I will switch over to 12/12 once it reaches a foot tall, if it is a Sativa strain I will switch over when it is a little over two feet tall. Keep in mind that this is with limited stretch. You could also decide when to flower based on amount of nodes, say once you reach the six node mark...

If it is a indica clone that is already a foot tall, then yeah, let it get nice and strong for a month or so.
I only have seed experience, it may be different, my bad.

how long to vegg?? well, its a simple answer. there is no right or wrong answer to this. the real question is: how big do i want my plant to be at harvest time? How much smoke do u want when its all done? how much work and watering do u wanna do? i use to think the bigger the better..but we all know thats simply not the case.

What about usable light, distance from plant.....

i just read above about going by the height of the plant..thats a winner in my book. thats how i like to do it as well. For me, i know if i start my ladiy in flower around 18 inch mark, it will be good for around a 3-5 oz's with sativas...indys, a little less. good luck and grow to whatever space u have available to work with because it sucks tip toeing around and crawling on ur hands and knees just to be able to water the ones in the back corners

useable light and distance, not sure what ya mean. distance of light from plants is an easy answer..close as possible. i run air cooled 1000w's that stay cool to the touch so my plants from time to time grow right into the glass and bend over and grow sideways. usable light..myself, i would rather sacrifice a little light so i can be able to walk around each plant and water and work..than to fill up the room to the point i have to move a couple plants out and still belly crawl to the back corners just to pour some water in em. ive done that shit many times and its just not worth the hassle to me.

u gonna vegg ur plant till it 5ft tall and then flower? if so, stand right where u are now and spred your arms out, and thats how much room ur gonna need with that monster..all the way around it, and a little more. plust ur gonna need a little bit of room to tend to her. every strain is different but ont thing that is not different is that u cann be sure that plant will at LEAST double in size durring flowering...if not, more. a 250w hps im sure everybody is gonna have there own opinion on if its enough light or not. it will be enough light for the top of the plant but the mid and lower part of the plant is gonna suffer and produce fluffy ass nugs. i do 3 plants per 1000w in flower and start them flowering around 16-20 inch height. they end up 3-4 feet tall and if i dont get 3-5 oz's of each, im dissapointed and did something wrong. its under the gram per watt that we all shoot for but like i said before..i would rather sacrifice a little extra light and be able to move around comfortably without braking branches to tend to them as opposed to adding an extra plant or 2 and screw myself 3-4 weeks down the road when they hit their growth spurt and becomes a pain it the ass just to add some water. there are times i end up with 15 ladies going on 2-4 weeks apart in the flower cycle just so 3 of them will be done by the time the ones behind it start rapidly growing. then move some new vegg plants in and start the cycle all over again.

Face Palm,NO it was a example tht a 250w aint gonna have enough usable light to reach half the Plant...I use 2x600 and 1 1k.3x3x2 trays for the 600s and 1k for my TREES tht i veg 2months.I Like big plants, Its all a matter of preference.
