hey riu peps.. i was just wondering when it is safe to apply nutes to recently rooted clones growing in soil?
i have had them growing in soil now for around two weeks or so under a few cfl's, and was wondering how long i should wait to go ahead and feed them, and also at what strength should i feed them at.. i am using the fox farms line up of nutes, along with the additives of open sesame, beastie bloomz and cha ching, if that makes any difference.
thanks in advance for any and all help with this as these are my first clones and i don't want to kill them after getting them this far..
thanks again..:joint:

you can start feeding them right now.Two weeks is usually the norm to allow the roots to grow and spread, then start on a 1/4 strength nute formula, increasing the strength to 1/2 the next week, then 100% thereafter.Hope this helps. You can start nutes after the clones take root fully, usually within the 2 weeks.

As soon as you see roots, you need to get the plant on nutes,as the rockwool, unlike soil has none in it to sustain them.

Concur:clap: But 100 % should be taken from a PPM or EC meter not what the bottle says :) Many factors behind this.

It also depends on your soil. Some soils have more feeding than others. So once you plant in soil, some will need nutes sooner than others. If you use a very low food content soil, then a small dose of nutes earlier shouldn't hurt, with other soils you can wait even longer than two weeks (especially a soil like miracle grow with slow release feeding).

Just remember, it's much easier to over feed than to under feed. So, start slow with nutes and work your way up, the effects of over-feeding may not show up immediately and you can easily ruin your soil (and plants) by over feeding them.

Your plants will tell you if they need more food and it's always easier to add nutrients than to take them back.
