I my areo nft set ups I run 1 min 5 min off as this gives them more air time(Roots love oxegen) and helps keep pump from heating resevoir. Running 24/7 is fine if you can control res temps, ie. less than 68 degrees. if your running straight nft you need to have your res aireated well, saturated with DO disolved oxegen. With areo the sprayers aireate just fine. Hope this helps!
