how long do i keep my seedling under a flourescent lamp?

Hi all,

really enjoying the site so far, having a flick through old posts has boosted my knowledge 10 fold!!

i was lucky enough to find a seed in me weed a few days back, i germinated and planted and now the little sucker is about 2 inches tall and looking very healthy.

i have placed it under the flourescent light in my loft under 24hrs of light.

my question is, how long do i keep it under there??

after i move it from there is it straight under my veg lamp on an 18/6 cycle or would that be too much of a shock to it and should it be introduced gradually??

Excellent! Reading the questions and answers that are already here is the fastest way to learn.

So your plant is under a flourescent, perfect for the 1st week or 2. Just til she gets some good leaves.

Then under the veg lamp, you should put the lamp high at first and then lower it over the 1st week. Say start at 3 feet over the plant top, and lower 6 inches per day, to 18 inches.

when i put it under the veg lamp. do i keep it 24 hours for a while or do i go straight to 18/6??

You can change it to 18/6. Thats how I do mine. Leave the florescents on 24 hrs and cut back when I use the 1000 watt mh. Just to save on my electric bill.

just set up my other plant under my envirolite for flowering, its quite a spindly plant due to me not knowing the ins and outs of growing to start, but its budding so i guess thats a good sign

itll only be a small yeild, but itll be my first home grown so itll be a big step for me.

just hope my little seedling turns out to be female now!!!!
