How long before repotting seedlings?

Can anyone tell me how long I should wait after seedlings have sprouted to transfer them into their next pot. At the moment they are in small pots of about half a litre in size and sprouted a week ago.. Thanks
 
A picture always helps.
A half litre is enough to bring on seedlings past that fragile stage.

Idk what the volume is but they're less than a half litre.

I wait unti I can see the roots hitting the sides and bottoms of my little starter pots. If you have enough roots to hold the soil together, transplanting should be easy.

I'm not sure many will agree, but I've also found its best to transplant when things dry out, not right after watering. Dry soil seems to crumble less and holds together better for transplant. I also like to water right after transplanting, which is another reason I wait till the soil is slightly dry. You dont want to double water your little starter plug if that makes any sense.
 
You don't want totally dry soil when you transplant. Try watering fairly lightly the day before transplant, depending on medium used for seedlings. Needs to be somewhat damp for the root base to hold in the soil. That's my experience anyways.
 
Yeah, I never transplant any type of plant 'dry' I always water well the day before, and transplant into soil that's the same moisture level as the root-ball I'm planting into it. Then I don't have to 'water in' the plant, it's already got plenty of water to work with and start spreading it's roots.
