How important is it to get your grow tent size right?

Eventually i plan on getting myself a tent to run 4 x 600w lights fitted with cool tubes...

i reckon the tent would just about fit in my bedroom replacing the cupboards i am using just now

Now i heard that the ideal coverage for a 600w is 120cm by 120cm

Im in the uk and a lot of the larger grow tents come in either:

200cm x 200cm x 200cm or

240cm x 200cm x 200cm

The only one i can see that is 240cm x 240cm x 200cm is the secret jardin one but it comes in quite expensive in comparison to the rest... so if im using 4 x 600w would any of these tents do or do i need a specific size?

Thx.

If ventilation won't be an issue with cool tubes...

a smaller tent = more light for the plants right?

if you can keep it cool enough..

Also consider how big you want the plants, will they grow into the lights/outgrow the tent etc

If plant size/heat not an issue I'd say smaller tent,

if you need more plant / heat control maybe the bigger one

edit - actually 4 600w is a lot... get a big enough tent

The point is... that for the money you spend on a smaller tent, you might as well go and buy a large one.

Now i know that means extra lights and ballasts etc but this is what i want to do.

If im going to spend the money, id rather get the best of equipment and not have to upgrade later.

Im just wondering how critical it is for the area to be exact according to a 120cm by 120cm covergae per light for a 600W?

Ventilation will not be an issue

When they say a 600w covers 120x120 they probably mean that's the most it covers effectively. so 4 of those areas.

So I wouldn't get a tent larger than 4 120x120 areas.

Try to find a tent as close to that 4 120x120 area as u can, or maybe a little smaller to increase lighting would be better??

i fill a 4x4 with 2 600's usually (trying something new at the moment with 2 250watt lights attached together in half the tent, like in my avatar).. in a 4x8 tent,4 600's should work out well... light will be spread out nice...plus you will have a nice watt to square foot ratio, i think like 75watts per square foot or something

It's pretty tough to have too much light, and that 120 x 120 is the max area of effective coverage, so a smaller area will work even better. If you go with the cheaper tent, the lights will be covering 100 x 100 each, which is better than the 120 x 120, because the output reaching the plants will be higher. Heat is going to be your main issue, so you might want to go with the cheaper tent and use the extra money towards more ventilation and cooling, be four 600 watt lights are going to be pounding out some serious heat. If you can make it work, be prepared for some seriously dense buds, as that'll be a sweet setup.

I have never grown in a tent... If you have a room that big why would you even want to use a tent, seems to me 4 600w lights would be better with out the tent... Set up 4 3x3 spots in your room.. You will be able to spread apart you plants so crowding will not be an issue.. cooling would be easier also.. And if you have not purchased your lights yet get yourself 2 1000w's and you will be glad you did...Peace
