How I Grow Outdoors, Huge Grows

Ok guys Im new here but i havent seen too many people using my method, or my exact method. I don't go big outdoors now, im trying to ween into indoor and be all legit, but this is what i did, this method was for huge grows and is a shit ton of work.

I will outline and answer ?'s

First thing is scout your spots, not gonna go into detail here, tons of info on this, but to summarize I look for clear cuts or bogs, using google earth and then physically scout. Pros of clear cuts are that you wont get flooded and lots of light, cons are you most likely end up trucking in water.

Bogs are good because there is always water near and lots of light, downfall is that they suck to navigate ( good for security) and if it rains heavy you risk root rot.

Then I buy Pro-mix bails.. Some years ago the government asked promix to change there packaging to something more visible, if you remember they were black... I lug those heavy as mofos to my grow site. If you have a big budget use a whole bail, if not use half bails... allow me to explain.. YES i use the bails like a grow bag, i cut them in half with a box cutter and then cut slits in the bottom for drainage, this is especially handy for bog grows.

In a clear cut you can dig holes if you prefer but the roots will grow down through your slits into the ground and the bails work perfect. DISADVANTAGE is obviously that the bails dry out fast. you need to pay attention to rain.

Thats the most laborious part. Next i turn all the soil up and let it sit for a few weeks. Then I bring in my clones, plant them and put chicken wire fence around EVERY plant.

For feed I use organic bone meal, blood meal, as well as perlite and vermiculite, oh and triple phosphate.

Upon the first visit i begin feeding the plants and pinch all tops. I pinch all tops every time i visit, very time consuming.

As soon as you begin to see white hairs discontinue pinching the tops

I switch ferts to more bone meal for flowering. I stake up all stalks and secure them, with rope or zip ties, My stalks are usually the size of my wrist and its not unusual to get pounders.

You need severe self discipline to keep the plants in the woods long enough to finish, you'll want to grab them up and keep them secure but you need to wait it out, i have lost many plants by waiting too long, but thats the way it goes. If you harvest too soon the buds may look decent, but once they are dried you will probably be disappointed.

I harvest the tops and leave the bottoms for a few more weeks to finish.

and thats that, I think the big difference in my method is using the bails a as a grow bag... I have gotten pounders from growing out of half bails, it works awesome.

i use massive hockey gear bags when im out there and stuff those things full.

My personal biggest grow was 99 with spots of 20ish and 30ish, with some plants dying throughout the season.

..oh I also use sluggo or some other type of slug repellent, this is a must. Something to repel mice from chewing stalks is also a good idea.

My favorite outdoor strains are Durben, Blueberry, skunk and purple afghan

sounds like a good idea, thinking about doin a big grow this year outside soo looking for all the info i can get on gorilla growing as i have only planted small patches before and i jsut finished watchin brown dirts movie prohibition and seen his grows its just plain inspiring , info on stealth, seeds , nutes. pretty much anything would be helpful! thhanksss!

I go all out on stealth, the key word is plan! make a plan and practice it before you actually have plants out there. When your working with your soil in your spot, pay attention to residences, traffic patterns, are people going to be walking on nearby roads? Is there a good enough place to park (usually no), can i trust anyone to drop me off? I wear a face mask and camo or dark clothes, wear sneakers and stay in shape!!!! If i see a land owner, game warden or even a cop, I m gone... and they are not keeping up. When I workout in spring i run on four wheeler trails to get the feel of loose footing... how far do you wanna take it for peace of mind you know?

Start seeds indoors, sooner the better, find a good female and mother it, get good at cloning. i only put clones outside.

i use natural nute if ever possible, the ones i mentioned are pretty much it

hope this helps, i never took pics due to the whole stealth thing... It was hard and I may have cheated a few times on my cell, but always deleted them fast. Thats hard evidence.

Its fun to talk about it here though..

But again, best advice when heading outside is OVERPLAN

You rock man, your clearly an expert at this and the planning work you put into this is inspirational lol

what do you mean by pinching the top and what purpose does this serve?

You literally take each top of of every branch, then two tops grow back!! Yes, you will get two colas, then pinch those tops and two more colas, thats how you get pounders, mastering the pinch, it takes a little practice. There are alot of videos out there on it but you'll find you just have to try it and pinch a little more or less. So if you have a 6 footer thats just as wide x 30 of them, it takes alot of time but its worth it.

I scout mine on the rivers by google earth, most soil close to a river is great, I shoot for the loose and sandy soil, hasnt failed me yet. Plan how to get it the hell out before hand, and scout it on foot before planting anything, some houses and things cant be seen from google earth! I usually strip my branches, and stuff them in those see through/ mesh/ fish net lookin laundry bags, and get em home ASAP! canoes are a good stealthy way to get around instead of packing 10 heavy bags. a heavy rock in your laundry could save your ass in case things go wrong. Also slugs and snails are a big issue around here too, I still find snail shells in my buds from time to time. oh well, thats the life of a rockstar, im trying that slug-o this season

In my experience grow bags dry out way too quick, the bag is elevated and more direct sun hits it,
drying out the soil, its way to time consuming during the hot summer days,
requiring water every 2-3 days. Using a half bale as a grow bag doesnt seem any different to me.

And the way the bales are packed so tightly, how do the roots receive oxygen?

Jeez,I remember growing in the middle of cornfields as young toker. I don't want say how big those grows were.

Clearcuts are good, but creek bottoms are better,IMO. A little manure added to those silty soils and you can grow big. Too much trouble to haul stuff up and through a clear cut at my age. Thank God,I lived in an area where you had regular summer rains when I fooled with clear cuts.

The real key to big plants/yields outdoors is genetics. You can grow all the stumpy little Indicas you want, but you won't get the yeild of an old Sativa based local strain that has been acclimatized to it's region,IMO.

I used to grow a strain that needed minimal tending and grew to 7 feet plus. It was polyploid Sativa that had been altered to produce huge buds. Any novice could plant that strain and expect a pound and a half of seedless bud from 6-7 foot plant w/ no tending other than culling the males. If you took the time work them they would go over 15 feet and produce pounds of bud.

I'm sure some of those fellas still have those beans in their freezers. :)

a full bail will stay moist for longer, also you can add "soil moist" to make it saty wetter longer, but yes you do need to keep an eye on the bails. As for being packed tight, I agitate the soil to break it up and make it nice and soft, then leave it for hopefully a few natural rains to saturate it before clones go in. Sometimes we go out and bails are bone dry, but never to the point where its detrimental, during frought, once a week, other than that every two weeks, the more time out there the better (but obviously not for stealth so its a balance), the more you pinch the better. Works great and you cant dig holes in bogs. Plus as I mentioned the roots usually go right through and into the ground.

Slugs are probably the single most pain in the arse.. Slug-o is goood, attracts and kills them.

Alright so here my Question. I live up north on the east coast. I've had plants vegging out for two months on 16/8 lighting. The lighting currently is about 14/10 outdoors, it will soon be 15/9. I always start my plants indoors to give them a head start but i didn't put them out last year till June when the lighting was the same. They are all very bushy tall plants about 2-3 feet tall and have showed sex already. I just want to know if i could toss them outside now in the 14/10 lighting. With there being 2 less hours of light will they go into flowering or do you think they'll be fine. I have no room left in my box and need to move them outdoors a.s.a.p
