How fast to roots grow?

I planted this in a small bowl yesterday, I was wondering how fast the roots are going to reach the bottom of the bowl because at that point I'd move it into dirt, I started it in a napkin and it actually sprouted (with a leaf) in the napkin and rooted into it, so I just put the napkin under some soil and left it, was that a good idea?

Ohh... no, the napkin thing doesn't seem like a good idea. Try to carefully remove the plant's root from the napkin and put it in pure soil right away.

Ok, I'm sure the plant would get able to grow in the napkins fine it just wouldn't receive the same nutrients and all that it would get from soil.

Na I soaked the napkins in water and press down :mrgreen: it seems to me that the napkins do a really good job at staying moist which is why I choose to use them, I have a few other plants in soil next to it so I'll see how it does compared to them I'm kind of curious.

Just get it into something a bit bigger. Why wait? also IMO you will have at least a week if you really can't move it. The roots tend to go to the bottom, but then they spread laterally if they hit a barrier. On the other hand, I see no reason not to move it. The bigger it is, the more you will disturb the roots when you Xplant. If you are planning to move it to the ground, wait until it has some leaves on it, but move it to something larger first. It's quite late for outdoor, though. I' not sure of your plans with this one, but you might want to come up with one.

no plant is going to grow in a tupperware pot inside of a soup bowl. it's also stretched out because your light is too far away.

if you don't put it in a real pot and get the light issue fixed, this plant will die.

whats the purpose of the soup bowl filled with soil ?

do u think the roots will grow thru that smaller cup or what?

and i cant see the purpose of the soil over the napkin either , is the soil suppose to give the plant nutes...?

Ok I have a idea, I cut all of the bottom of the plastic bowl its in off and dig a small hole in the ground and just put that in the hole and make it snug, that way it will be separated from the things growing around it but it will still eventually get rooted into the ground. What do you guys think?

I think you need to invest $5 and get a regular plant pot....

Drainage, less repotting, and WAY less Ghetto Factor.
