How Do You Cool Down Your Closets?

like the title says , how do you cool down your closet? ..... I'm having heat issues, from maybe not having enough cfm . Should I get another fan or go another route? I currantly have a 4" intake in the floor and a 4" exhaust through the wall . I'm using a 400 watt mh in a 18" cool tube with a 6" homdepot inline duct fan. the fan says 260 cfm but I think its lying. should my 4" exhaust hose be hot ?

Thanks sticky thats the fan I was thinking about , but I'm worried that wont be enough my temp is at about 88-90 with what I got now . With the light out the temp stays at a constant 73 degreese. The air below the floor from the basement is 69-70 , you think it would get the temp down to around 73-75? cause 170$ aint no joke when it dont work and only gets the temp to 80. whuch would work but I still think its to high. My last grow at my previous spot I grew some purple and the only way to get the color out of it was to have the temp below 75 . And this time Im going to grow the last of the beans I have and I want to get the same purdy purple stuff I got last time?



any ideals are helpfull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

buy a small AC unit from Lowes for like $80. That'll keep them cool. I did this with opne of my grow rooms, I was growing during the summer, like 115 degrees outside, and 80 in my house.. Dam did my Elect bill hit the ceiling..

i have a quick ? for anybody that can help if in an emergency can i throw a black light in with my flouresent lights will it do any good at all just untill i can make it to a store wich wont be till like 2 days from now

mate , i am growing in a very confined space using a 400w mh/hps , no cool tube!
I have two passive intakes about 12cm diameter , and two 4 inch fans , one a compfan , and one a axial hydroponic fan.

My space is probally 3-4 sq foot.

As long as i run the fans when the light is on i have no issues.

Also outside temp is approx 75 most days.

you should go with true type cfm, alot of fans claim so but may not be so....270cfm should very well keep a 1000watter cool....so im sure something is wrong.
a powerful enough exhaust should exhaust that hot air no problem, as long as its exhausted out of the area. you should also air cool the light with a sealed reflector.

hot air problems should disappear, if not duct the a/c to the intake

he said he has a cool tube!

that should take care of the heat , unless your venting next to your intakes that would explain why u cant cool it down.

loud blunts it is a house closet , that I lined with balck and white poly . now the box the fan came in said 260-270 something. the fan is pushing through the cool tube then a 6 to 4" coupler out about 2 foot of duct tubeout a 4" hole in the wall. the closet is 3x3x5 . I extended the shelf out to the door frame and put in a zipper door. I also have a 4" hole in the floor with duct tube and a computer fan. here are some pics. what i was thinking was put a 6" vortex where the inline fan is now , but use some 6" duct work and mount the fan to the bottom off the shelf.</P>

Ok! The answer is in your second picture.

#1 those in line cheap fart fans are terrible for moving are.

#2 you do not have at least 12" of ducting on the intake side of your fan, which is allowing the air to Cavitate. Which is why your light is getting hot. In other words the air is just circleing in and out of the fan blades and not going anywhere.

You should get a much better fan. If not at least add 12" of duct on the intake side.

i would go as far as to separate the light from everything... have an intake duct from that to the lights and exhaust while ducting to the outside of the area

I'm no engineer but it would seem to me that even with your cool tube....your closet has heat build up due to radiant heat from the bulb...maybe venting your closet with an additional outtake fan would lower the temp by a few degrees

Hey thanks for all the fast replies! what I'll do is get some 6" duct work andput it between the tube and the fan, and some on the intake side of the fan also streaching up to the top of the space . if that dont work i'll get rid of the fart fan and get a real fan such as a votex.

so you think the 260 cfm rating on the box for the inline fan is bullchit lord dangly?
so with the propper air flow that 400 shouldnt cause any problem for that size of a closet.right ? and if propper air flow is the answer do you think I could put another cool tube with a 400 watt hps in there with it and run 2 vortex fans ? one for each
