Im confused by your question? is this some special controller or somthing? does it not have a 3 prong 120v plug-in on the controller??

ok so you plug your fan into the contoller and plug the controller into your outlet.....its as simple as pluging in your vaccum or toaster or anything that reqiures you to use your outlet...

i think iots one similar to this http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=fan+speed+controller&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Xm0&sa=X&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&biw=1600&bih=759&tbm=isch&prmd=imvnsfd&tbnid=bEdT-7cCELGZDM:&imgrefurl=http://www.fantronix.com/acatalog/Fan_Speed_Controller_1_Amp_-_FSC-1.html&docid=Z_R_VmeYuEnGcM&imgurl=http://www.fantronix.com/acatalog/fsc_1.jpg&w=300&h=300&ei=yMMZT8DnG8Oh8gPW8_TECw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=186&vpy=95&dur=1779&hovh=225&hovw=225&tx=114&ty=123&sig=100438645375801402564&page=1&tbnh=156&tbnw=156&start=0&ndsp=27&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0

where you have to wire the fan into the unit, thats why i attached the socket so it looked like this http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=fan+speed+controller&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Xm0&sa=X&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&biw=1600&bih=759&tbm=isch&prmd=imvnsfd&tbnid=wTwdbpqjfrA5QM:&imgrefurl=http://www.growell.co.uk/fan-speed-controller-rig.html&docid=4u8gGuSRc8dUoM&imgurl=http://www.growell.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/F/a/Fan-Speed-Controller-Rig.jpg&w=1200&h=1200&ei=yMMZT8DnG8Oh8gPW8_TECw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=354&vpy=120&dur=886&hovh=225&hovw=225&tx=95&ty=114&sig=100438645375801402564&page=3&tbnh=142&tbnw=142&start=64&ndsp=38&ved=1t:429,r:24,s:64
