how do I prevent electrical fires? Someone with electrical experience pls

I'm wondering how do electrical fires start, like my ballasts all have grounds and the plugs are connected to the fusebox and have their own fuses, I'm running 3 1000w hid and 1 1000w mh. Like if there is a short will the fuse switch to the off position?

Electrical fires start because people try to do shit they know nothing about. It takes at least 4 years to get your papers in the trade. So that said

overloading the the plug and overloading the wire cause fires.

The Plug
to many things plugged in on one circuit could cause a fire. Fuse should blow or breaker trip. Fuse takes longer to go.

Wire
Overloading the wire. The size of the wire you use is determined by a number of things including how far you need to run the wire. Using 14/2 gauge wire to go over 80 feet and loading up the circuit will cause the wire to get hot and potential for fire.

I always make sure the plugs I use are ground fault protected. This will also save your life. All grow rooms have water and electricity

GROUND FAULT IS MANDATORY.

jesus dude your fine. your breakers are probably at least 10 amps each if not 15. A single 1000w light and ballast mabie draws 4-5 amps tops. And the breaker blowes when there is a surge in the line, no like when the resistance in the wires varries, such as a nick in the wire or a sudden growding. Sounds like you are being safe. The easyest thing to do to ease any anxiety is to use a shit ton of electric tape.... hah

old wiring , improper installation , overloading circuits , poor grounding for when lightning storms come round , ie need to plug surge protectors into socket and lights into protectors . and if ure sockets r wired in 14/3 then the electrical contractor went on the cheap and cut corners , unless only one or two sockets were wired together . shood b a minimum of 12/3 . if ure in an old house the wire can b of a 10 or 12/2 variety which is obsolete because of no ground present at plug , two prong plugs 2 put it in layman terms .

The fact you say fuse instead of breaker is of some concern because it indicates age. For that kind of wattage I would want the box checked out by a pro. I set up my grow room with a dedicated circuit and new wiring and outlets because I was also paranoid about fire.

that brings up a good point it wood b eazy 2 run new circuts if ure box isnt maxed out. and dont overload a box . u can also install a new box say a 50 amp
