how close?

hey im growing a killawatt from seed and have them in a closet with a 250w mh. how close should i have my light because im beggining to notice my seedling is stretching a bit and its grown its first litle set of two leaves but i dont want to run out of space wen she ngrows up cus of the stretching. cheers

there is no "exact" distance coz its pretty much dependant on heat removal. i just put my hand at the top of the plant and if it feels like the back of my hand is burning i move the light up, and if not then move it closer. it also helps if uv got a fan blowing the space between plant and light. it helps the stalk thicken and moves the air/heat around.

i prefer to go with cfls for the first 2/3 weeks coz u can have them within an inch of ur plants with no heat issues at all.

well my other two seeds died and the killawatts stretching so i think il switch to the 125w cfl for a while cheers. wen do u think i shud start using nutes?
