How am I doing guys?

Hi guys,

First post! Been lurken a few months now.

I have been interested in growing pot for a long time now, but have only just recently been in a position to grow. I have done a fair share of reading on the different aspects of the indoor grow, and this is the way I went.

Growing medium:
this was by far the hardest decision to make on this grow, I went with Coco coir & perlite in fabric pots. I bought the small compressed bricks, the 9lt ones with the red ticks, and a 5lt bag of perlite.
I flushed the coco with warm tap water (400ppm,7.2ph) and mixed in the perlite bag, flushed again. I now realise that I should have soaked the growing meduim with 5.8ph RO water.

Lights:
I went with 2x300w mars hydo LEDs. I also went down the DIY road and built two LED fixtures, each with 4x CXB3590 & 1x HGL-185-1400A driver on a 32"x5.88" heatsink. They have the 90 degree reflectors mounted. They pull around 230 true Watts each.

Grow space:
I bought one 2x2x4.5ft grow tent off eBay and later bought another two 3x1.75x5ft tents

Ventilation:
originally I purchased a no name 4" inline fan + carbon filter + ducting combo. It ended up being too loud for my liking so I went with the 6" hyperfan (I should have bought the 10") and 30ft of insulated 6" ducting.

Nutrients:
I'm running the canna coco line up A+B, rhizotonic, cannazym, PK 13/14, boost accelerator & I grabbed a bottle of GH Cal/mag.

Genetics:
As I am a noob I went with northern lights, I think there #5.
I also got two free seeds from the online retailer.

Germinating:
I went with the pappertowl method in a zip lock bag. After the first day, 3 of the seeds began to sprout but I let them go for another day and planted into solo cups, watered with tap water (400ppm 7.2ph) and zero nutes, I now realise it should have been 5.8ph.

I added the two free seeds to the two that had yet to sprout, and put them in a fresh paper towel ( I should have put them in separate bags as I ended up mixing the up. Of those four seeds only two had sprouted after 2 days and I planted them as I did the first lot.

The remaining two seed were put into a glass of water in the window sill in the kitchen. (they were later tipped down the sink by my girl, lesson learnt)

I went and bought 4 gallons of deminarilsed water and begun using a 50/50 mix of tap water and deminarilsed ph'd to 5.8 with no nutes.
I overwaterd for the first 3 days and the leaves were dropping badly I started to water roughly every 3-4 days.

Once I had realise my mistake of the pH being to high and reading about pre-charging coco before planting I made up a 1/8th strength nute mix @5.8 and flushed each pot about 10 times. I didn't water for 4 days after this this was mid way of week two.

Plants responded really well and begun to take off. I started adding 1/2 strength nutes to the feed on day 14.

Temps:
This was a bit if trial and error for the best part of 2weeks untill I hit it dialed in to a ten degree (C) temperature swing from day to night. 20c and night and 28c during lights on.

I keep the lights at 20" above the tips of the plants.

I plan on using the smaller tent as a mother/seedling/Veg tent. I'm thinking of splitting the tent into two sections with a shelf type rack for a top & bottom type configuration. Seedlings on top under one of the 300w mars and the mothers on the bottom under the other 300w mars light.

What are your thoughts on this idea?

I've transplanted from the solo cups to 1gallon fabic pots 4 days ago I should have done this a week earlier as they were being to circle the little pot, but there looking bushy as f&%k! I'm now feed full strength nutes as per the canna guide.

I also topped one day after the transplant I knew I should have waited a week to reduce stress on the ladies. (Feminised seeds) I will have a better transplant/topping schedule on the next grow. There is new grow that is looking good so I'm happy at this stage.

As I have a split system A/c in my room, I have hooked up the the intake (passive) with 4" duct to sit where the cold air come out, the exhaust is positioned to sit next to the AC air intake.

Please have a look at my pics and let me know what you think. I'm up for ideas and criticism here guys!

I carnt wait to get them under the COB lights but I ran into a small issue of cooling, currently the DIY lights are passively cooled and the two larger tents are not yet setup with ventilation.
I foolishly ran the lights this way @100% for around 90mins to seat the cobs and thermal paste. They were so fuvking hot I just about burnt my hand when I went in for a temp test. My ambient room temp went up about 8 degrees c.
I'm looking to add two 140mm PC fans to each heatsink in the next week or two.

I also need to solve the ventalation issue, I was wanting to rig each tent up to the one system, with a carbon filter in air tight box with 4 outlets 3 intakes (tent exhausts) and the other with the filter and fan. Or a inline filter type idear with a 10" or 12" fan, and using the 6" as an intake.

I have been thinking about running a lenght of 6" ducting from my AC though all three tents with possible T pecies for each tents intake, not sure this is a good idea or not.
Any input or ideas on this would be fantastic!

Thanks for you're time people.

"I went with Coco coir & perlite"
--- That's going a tiny bit pro for your first grow, I'd have gone with a weed specializing potting mix my first grow. You've opted to be more in control of nutes, more involved.

"The remaining two seed were put into a glass of water in the window sill in the kitchen. (they were later tipped down the sink by my girl, lesson learnt)"
--- Also sunlight is bad for germinating seeds, they want to be in a dark place.

"I plan on using the smaller tent as a mother/seedling/Veg tent."
--- I'm just getting into keeping a mother and taking cuttings, I've only had a second growspace for a couple of months. It's soooo cool, I recommend it.

"Seedlings on top under one of the 300w mars and the mothers on the bottom under the other 300w mars light."
--- I'm a bit concerned that those marses with a shelf like that would be too close for little seedlings, maybe not too hot but too intense light. Your tents sounded pretty short to begin with. How far will the 300w mars be above the seedlings?
I use little 25ish watt compact flouros for seedlings (and cuttings).

I love my Hyperfans! So good.
