Just got this email, thought I'd share. Doesn't really say anything we didn't already know...
e-115 (Cannabis)
Petition to the Minister of Justice
Whereas:
  • The personal production of beer, wine and other fermented alcohol is a legal activity for adults in Canada;
  • The personal indoor and outdoor cultivation of a variety of plants is legal in Canada; and
  • Adults who choose to consume cannabis should be granted similar production rights as those who choose alcohol.
We, the undersigned, citizens of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to allow for the personal production of cannabis as part of upcoming cannabis legalization legislation.

The government response is here: http://www.parl.gc.ca/Content/HOC/ePetitions/Responses/421/e-115/421-00998_HC_E.pdf

Why is there a particular comment with respect to indigenous perspectives?...hmmmm....so 4 plants 100cm tall...strictly regulate and restrict....lol...
I wonder how many people will be lining up for a job measuring plants? How are they going to enforce that?
And ya, why would an indigenous perspective be any different from a white European or an Asian perspective? More legislated racial division.

I guess they will only enforce if you end up on there radar for some reason.

i wonder what would happen if they came by and you plants were over so you just "cut" them to the right size? would they leave as you're now in compliance??
no way to treat the plant i know that but just a thought

What about rental properties and growing, do you have to inform the landlord?
I believe that will be left up to the cities and municipalities to self control at their level. That said, I am doubtful any landlords are going to give consent. I am just going to play "don't ask, don't tell" :shock:

I there will be a whole lot of "don't ask, don't tell" gardens outta fear of eviction. Medical gardens are protected (http://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/despite-135k-coquitlam-cleanup-medical-pot-users-needs-trump-landlord-rights-health-canada) but recreational is a different story. Given some of the messes I've seen and heard of resulting from grows, I would be leery of being a landlord. I think things will evolve, but renters may be restricted to low impact methods like grow boxes or something. If someone could mass-produce an affordable all-in-one, led, no impact growing system, they'd be a very rich man (or woman). While it might not supply the amount needed for medical use, a grow box is an easy option for a newbie grower and if the price were reasonable, everyone would want one.

Do you suppose my idea to do a terrarium grow is just a bit out there then. My Mom used to have one, but that was to grow cactus. Still they seem very cool and forgetting to water is more forgiving IIRC.

Itd be way too small for cannabis. The problem is that it isnt a low impact crop. It requires a lot of water and space if you want to grow anything with a decent yield. Then multiply that by X amount of plants, and factor water over the course of its life and it adds up.
