Hortilux vs Plantmax mh lights

I'm looking for 2 new 400 watt metal halide lights. I obviously know that Hortilux are tried and true and would be good. I was gonna buy either the standard Hortilux mh lights or the Hortilux Blue. But also much cheaper are Plantmax mh lights.

Standard Hortilux mh = $50-$60 range

Hortilux Blue = $90-$120 range

Plantmax = $10-$20 range

I know Hortilux will perform well, but how would Plantmax perform compared to Hortilux? Is the Blue Hortilux worth it compared to standard Hortilux? Is the Plantmax "good enough"? Or is Plantmax complete junk that should be avoided at all costs?

Since these lights are for veg only, does it even matter that much about which light to use? I know in flower you want a really good light (i got the Hortilux Super HPS 600w), but in veg is it as big of a deal? Are all MH lights pretty much the same despite cost differences? Should i get the Plantmax, the standard Hortilux, or the Hortilux Blue?

I always go high end, but it's just preference. I also always stay faaaaar from cheap stuff too.

been useing plantmax, ge, and sylvania bulbs for 20 plus years half the price same yields...unless the guy at your local store gets paid by comish, most will tell you to buy plantmax or sylvania unless you want to throw away money just to save an inch of stretch...even high end bulbs need to be replaced every year, save ur cash or buy 3 plantmax bulbs for 3 years or buy 1 highend bulb for 1 year, do the math simple choice...the only dif in high end bubs is the aded blue which really only reduces stretch about 5%..

i know im going to catch shit for that because people that spend hundreds on their bulbs dont like to hear they are throwing away money, but thats the truth ask any real grower who isnt being paid to recomend a bulb...sorry

I'm not sure there is a "most". I see everyone using a little of everything.

all i can say is me and the big comercial grow op that supplies mi dispecery all use plantmax...i only use a couple bulbs a year but the comercial grow ive been privledged to see has like 500 1000 watt plantmax bulbs in there gymnasium sized grow. and the head guy there had told me they actually buy bulk directly from plantmax so they get discounts,, they also use 247 garden mh bulbs if the plantmax is out of stock.. but like figgy said to each his own on bulb preferences,,everyone has a bulb they like best,,not sure if anyone did side by side compares because if they did i think alot of overpriced bulb companies would be out of buisness..Also i have a bloombox and a mothership from BC northern lights, they have won the past 10 hightimes gear of the year awards for their grow box's and they come with 24 hour customer service all their box's come with ,,,you guessed it plantmax bulbs!!!! call them and ask why?? theyve done studies that show superior results using plantmax bulbs..saying this i feel im asking for trouble here on riu
