Hooking fan branches together

Being a first grow and all, I am 2nd week flowering, and I can HOOK my fan leaves together to allow lower areas to recieve more light. I'm not much into LST or scrog or sog, but if this helps more than it hurts I would like to know, cause the fan leaves arent gettin too much light this way. So its either new growth or fan leaves? What do you think?

I say go for new growth because once the shoots are gettin tall enough, you can always unhook the fan leaves... BUT for that matter, why dont you get some twist ties and reposition the fan leaves in a more harmonious way.

It's fine to hook your fan leaves together to open up areas of the plant to more light. if you're using an HID lamp, you should have no problem penetrating to the hooked fan leaves.

DayDrops, I fuckin' love that your little tag of Doc saying "This proves my theory!" That shit almost makes me fall out of my chair laughing... the look on his face! But I would be that excited too if I invented the equivalent of the Flux-Capacitor for the marijuana world, lol. It's the greatest 'sign off' (or whatever they are called) ever.

As to the origional question, I see no problem with this If it looks like it's workin, go for it! I don't know how many you have going, but if its a few, I usually leave one or two as a "control" for my experiment, so that I have something to compare it with. But if you only have one or two and it seems to be working, try it out!

I have done that without any adverse affects
I also love paperclips (Heh)

Fan leaves need sun (light) when you are vegging, not so much during flower.
They work sort of as a storage place for the mobile nutrients like Nitrogen
that can be moved (by the plant) to where its needed.
When using flowering nutes there is not much Nitrogen in the mix
so the plants use up that which it stored during vegetative growth
in the fan leaves. This is the biggest reason to not remove them as some do.
Mine have been yellowing as their reserves deplete and falling off which is fine as well.

yeah, don't take them off or anything. But as long as they get some light on them, and it allows you to get light in other places too, then it should be fine. :peace: out.
