Homemade Vent and Filter System

This is my first post but I figured I finally had something worth putting up. Here's a venting and filter system I finished today that's been in planning for awhile. 4 weeks into flowering so figured it was about time. This box totaled out to about $75 which is kinda expensive but will hopefully be pretty legit.

It starts off with a 6" inline fan ordered online from Home Depot totaling about $30. Put it in a box with newspapers to muffle any sound after a quick and cheap wiring job.

The ducting came from Lowe's in only a 25' length for $20. Cut 2 roughly equal lengths on both sides.

Another duct piece was cut to narrow it down to fit the pencil cup filter found here: https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/101248-best-diy-ez-walmart-carbon.html> This cost $23.49 exactly as listed.

Finishing it off was a squarish piece of cardboard to make it easy to attach to the grow box.

A side benefit from this set up is it ended up being a pretty compactable design, for transport which is good cause I'll be relocating in a few months.

Hope yall enjoy the first post.

It's no louder than a PC fan, I just went the extra length with the box and paper for good measure cause it's in my apt. attic. I stood below the attic door listening for it and couldn't hear it, even though its only about 6-7 feet away.

It pulls and pushes air pretty good. I put my hand next to the inlet and could feel the air flow. And you can feel it coming through the filter when you hold your hand close, I got a thicker pantyhose sock than I really wanted though(first time buy obviously). We'll see how it really does with the smell when they start stinkin.

Here's another picture, its inside of the box. I cut off the square cardboard on the end cause I had to go through multiple layers with it.

I threw the fan's box away, was gonna look at the CFMs. That one in the link looks like it would probably move more air than mine though.

Looks great, where can i get a cheap exhaust fan? the hydro shop wants 100+ for any kind of fan and home depot doesnt seem to have them
the hydro shop wants 100 + because they have good fans that are very much worth it. I rigged up a similar fan/ filter in a box, and they work o.k. for one or two little plants. home depository sells a big 12" (maybe bigger?) attic fan for 40 to 80 bucks that i use to pull bad glass fumes outta my room when im blowing, and its got atleast a thousand cfm. its about as loud as the can fans or hydro fans.

the cardboard fan was for a tiny 2 plant 120 watt cfl grow. you could make an attic fan work for a 400 watt
