is this a breeders name or lierally hollow stems? In my experiences hollow stems happen when there is not enough wind to make the plant "beef up". Happens alot indoors then the stems cant support the buds. outdoors this is less of a problem because of the stems and branches getting exercise and building "muscle".

Fistular stems are common to sativas...If you are interested in the botany R.C. Clark, "MJ Botany" is a good read...Looking at hollow stem mj and jacking off dead squirrels produce the same mind numbing effect...FWIW

Oh, you asked about other hollow strains. Two that immediately come to mind are tomatoes and bamboo...Again, FWIW

TGA strains for the most part have typical hollow stems, (3D, Vortex, Agent Orange, Ace of Spades, JTR, Qrazy Train, Chernobyl, The Void, Pandora's Box)

whats with all the uneducated posts not one post here is worth a damn.

as for hollow stems a lot of strains have them and no its got nothing too do with wind sure to some extent outdoor stems are stronger and thicker but you still get hollow stems just not so much the bigger parts of the stem.

but I've read from breeders yes breeders not just out of my ass like the rest of you newbies that the plants with more hollow stems tend to be more potent and more pruductive as far as bud and drug traits, but the more solid pith filled stems are putting more of their energy into fiber production. according too shantibaba its true for the most part. also dj short talks about it in his book.

come to think of it most plants I grow have hollow stems probably cause its a desirable trait for breeders.

hollow stems is a pheno.
1) they make for some of the best plants
2) they can be damn near impossible to clone

i love them, personally and have a bunch of strains that i have bred that exhibit the trait.

yeah they are but there is some that are clear as day throughout.
Polyarcturus.........you must be one experienced grower/breeder. To all the other people on this thread who think that all strains are hollow, or you can clone hollow strains......you are wrong!!!!!!! Only propagation merhods are seed and possibly tissue culture! Hollow stem strains are very potent, as are clear gold resin glands! My good friend, who passed away, had an awesome old indica variety that was hollow stem. It grew mainly pod groups or clusters, similar to Grinspoon, but indica! Flavors are very unique to this strain only.....incense, hashy, skunky, coffee flavors.....and a very potent unique high u just dont find today; happy, euphoric, body high that is fully functional! Now another great quality of the hollow stem strain is harvest. You dont need clippers, you just reach down to the base and snap it off clean......zero fiber! And it is very strong outdoors as seems odd, but it survives the hawaiian wind, rain no problem! Great thread

ya agent orange was very aparent to me as was swt from steve. LUI was another. a healthy plant with optimum growth is the key to hallow stems in my grows over the last 20 yrs with 100s of strains

1) nearly all my seed plants seem to have hollow stems the first run, more so on coco/drip than anything else.
2) you can clone any non-autoflowering strain. you could clone an auto too, i just don't know why you would as it would more than likely simply delay the cycle briefly. maybe if you like miniature plants?
3) Clonex + root booster of some kind (i like gh and h&g) ftw.
4) they thicken more in flowering, but the main stem seems to remain a little hollow.

One of my phenotypes of Dinafems Kush N Cheese has a thick ass hollow stem. After I harvested her, I cut the stem into inch long pieces and use them as little joint "filters" and it's pretty cool.
