Ran into an issue, if I'm not home to turn my lights off they don't get turned off. So I need to get a timer that will work for a 400w MH setup. Any ideas? preferably from home depot? I got to make a run there tomorrow anyways.

Just about any timer would work bro, as long as theres 3 prongs. Get one rated for higher wattage.

For HID's, I only use Intermatic. They are 'mechanical time switches' that are the AK-47 of timers. Lowes and HD both have them.

Draw backs are you have to wire them yourself. Plus side is, I'M USING ONE THAT HAS BEEN IN SERVICE FOR WELL OVER 40 YEARS.

Sorry, cap lock got stuck. LOL

At the very least, get a water heater timer for the HID. The cheapo timers are fine for lower power stuff. Don't skimp. Get at least a 30-40 amp timer for HID's.

Don't you need to use a contactor/relay to plug your H.I.D. Light into to protect the mechanical 15min interval timer from burning out, that's the issue here in the U.K. Though we can buy timers capable of running a 600w H.P.S. they're about £16, yet a four plug relay/contactor is only £26.
My question again, do you need relays our are all timers capable?
