Hempy outdoors??

Hello RIU, I can see there are a lot of very talented farmers on here. Gonna try my first outside grow this summer in my back yard. Done two indoor grows, one awesome, one not so good. So can a guy run hempy buckets outdoors? Lightproof buckets? Then if I have black buckets will it draw extra heat to the root zone? Thank you in advance and happy to be a RIU member. Looking foward to expanding my growing talents here.

Was thinking also about burying my buckets in holes. Gonna run straight perlite. Anyone have success with hempy outdoors? Or should I stick with some soil?

I experimented with a small hempy one plant grow last year. I used .75 perlite and .25 vermiculite. It did better than a soil plant in the same size container. Go ahead and try it.

Hey thanks for the reply and welcome. I was gonna use 5 gal. Buckets and was worried about sunlight hitting my roots through buckets. Another worry was the wind. Did yours hold up ok? Or did you have to secure it when it got bigger? Thank you glad to be here!

You should be fine... I would definitely tie her at the bottom for increased stability, also how big u lookin to grow these ladies? I would look into bigger pots due to that they are gonna drink more being outside. Putting them in holes is a good idea too... It'll keep the res in your hempty bucket cooler, i would also put the hole in the side of your bucket a little higher so you can compensate for the higher drinking of your plants.

^^^Great advice. I used about a 2 gal bucket and it was definitely too small. I had to support it. 5 gal sounds good.

Hey thanks great advice. Gonna move drain hole up at least one inch. Gonna throw 2 fem cataract kush, and a fem sour kush out. What kinda volume of nutes can I expect to use in 5 gal's? I was figuring two indoor runs worth at least. Was gonna use GH nutes. Just didn wanna go nute poor this summer. They gonna be in about 8hrs of direct sun. So like brown guy said , I think they gonna be drinking a lot. I was hoping to get 6 foot tall in the 5's with a top or two. Sound doable?
