Hempy Buckets - Drooping Leaves (pics attached)

Hi,

I read a thread on Hempy Buckets and I really like the simplicity of the system. however, I can't seem to keep the leaves from drooping. I use a 4:1 ratio of perlite/vermiculite. I have the plants under 2 1000w HPS lights. I just flipped them to 12/12 last week. I was told that the leaves are drooping due to overwatering but then I've read it's not possible to overwater in a true hempy bucket. So I'm thinking maybe I am using buckets that are too big and the hole is drilled too high. I'm using 5 gallon buckets and the hole is drilled right at 2 inches from the bottom of the buckets. I'm only feeding about once every 5 days and the leaves still sag. I check the weight of the buckets before I feed and they feel empty. Any idea what it might be?

I have never used hempy buckets, but I have grown a lot of pot in a lot of different ways. And that actually looks like underwatered to me. If the buckets feel light, it's not over watering. Over watering causes extremely lush and soft growth, that droops, your plants appear to be wilting. On a unrelated note, some of your plants are lacking in medium, next grow make sure they all get at least 3 gallons of medium. I do not recommend transplanting or adding medium during flower, if it roots anymore at all it will just take away from budding, and stress your plant.

Are older leaves yellowing and falling off from the bottom after you water them? That is a 100% "fer sure" sign that it's underwatering.

How many plants do you have under your 1000w's and how close are they? 1000w lamps are advertised as the standard, but they are friggin' serious mo fuggin' lamps! If it's there first week I would advise keeping the lamp 3ft away from the plants.
