Helping plant mature in water?

Plant is in ground, and it's going to snow soon, can I cut the plant at the base, and put it into a Tupperware with water in it, and place in a sunny room to finish for a few weeks, and should I change the water daily? Maybe add a slight amount of fertilizer to the water?

Dang, so it wouldnt help at all? Just cut now and deal with premature bud?

She has already taken 3 frosts, and it's going to snow on Friday.

Can you put a picnic table umbrella up to keep the snow from falling directly on her?
How big is she?
