If you snip off the top of the plant, growth will slow for a couple of days, then the plant will divert it's energy to it's lower part. So in a nutshell, yes.
However, before too long those lower branches will grow upwards too, and probably have to be topped as well.
There is an answer, provided by that guru of ganja, fdd2blk, and here it is https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/56976-advanced-lst-old-school-bonsai.html essentially lets you guide the plant so it grows exactly where you want it, and lets you maximise the space available to you.

I don't tend to grow Lowryder with other strains at the same time. The Lowryder finish in 10 weeks but like 18 hours light or more which will give other strains 10 weeks of vegging. This will make the other plants huge.
If you must grow them together then put them all on 12/12. This will reduce the harvest on the Lowryders but will keep your other plants short and they should finish around the same time.

To keep stuff growing too big I put a nail into the side of my pots and put an elastic band over the top of the plant that I hook over the nail. This does the same as topping but doesn't shock the plant, so it carries on growing. They will stop growing for a week if you top them which will just delay flowering even more. Let me know if you need a pic to understand what I mean.
