hey

i transferred my seedling into my new grow tent last night and all was well until the temps started playin up.

it was 98 degrees and even hhit 105 degrees at one point!

ive got a 6" fan but venting into the room with the window open.

an air humidifier tower inside the tent and im running a 600w hps.

I had to turn the tent off last night it was so hot and now ive lost my plants!

ive not got much money left and can only afford either a cool tube or digital ballast.

which one of these is going to bring my temps down the most?

If heat is a problem like that, and you can't afford an air cooled hood, your only other option would be to go fluorescents. Good luck.

...does that dehumidifiter put off heat?...try only running it during sleep hours, maybe run your lights at night when the sun is down ...can you vent the room out the window?

What kind of 6" fan are you using? What you need is an inline centrifugal fan (quietest, most powerful) and some ductwork sucking air out of your tent. Ambient temperature also needs to be considered, if your intake air is already 90 degrees, you aren't going to be able to cool. I have a S&P TD 150 hooked up to my 400w in a 2' x 3' cabinet, and my temps are always within 1 - 2 degrees of my room temperature. My exhaust just blows into the room the cab is in, roughly 15' by 15'. I am using an air cooled hood, but I suspect performance would be roughly the same without it, just not the ability to get plants close to the bulb.

Might be better off to put your money toward a portable AC. Make sure your ballast is outside of the grow area as well. A cooltube only helps as much as the air going through it. If your trying to push hot outside air through it, little good will come out of it.
