You're worried about one branch at the bottom of the plant? Why? That bottom branch will have next to no bud on it anyway. Just cut the damn thing off just above the last set of leaves before the bend. Or tie a splint to the branch if you're determined to save it. By "tie" I mean wrap it on there with some string or dental floss, just tight enough to hold it in place until the branch mends itself. For the splint you could use something like a piece of bamboo barbecue skewer or even a toothpick since it's a very thin branch, anything that will hold it straight.
