HELP - Taking clones in Jiffy pellets ?

Hi

I want to try this instead of my aerocloner as i only do a couple plants and it will save time/effort.

Is there a 'foolproof' guide here ?

I want to transfer the Jiffy Pellets into 3" rockwool cubes then into my bubblers with net pots/clay pebbles.

Cheers

Dont even mess with rockwool or jiffy pellets or any of that crap. I fought with that stuff for over a year, and the best way to do it is to just use neoprene circles with slits cut in them to hold the stems tight. Then just fit them in the top of whatever size net cup will fit your cloner and voila! The stems stay stable and in full spray of the water and nutes. Works great for me! When the roots get large enough, just transfer directly into larger net cup and fill with hydroten. Happy Growing!

any reason you want to use jiffy pellets instead of just rockwool cubes alone? I made the same move and ditched my aerocloner for the al b fuct cloning method and have had much better luck. with his method u do have to manually water the rw cubes by hand 1-2 times a day, I imagine jiffy pellets be about the same?

I always use jiffy pellets to clone. It's all I've ever used and have never had good luck with rockwool, as I tend to get algae or something on it. (i'm on a well, so...). I just take my cutting, throw it in some clonex then pop it in the jiffy pellet. I make sure it is throughly soaked and then I stuff em in a gallon sized ziplock bag. Ghetto, yes, but knock on wood I've never had any issues and every strain I've attempted to clone has rooted within a week. I've also used cheap rooting powders that you can pick up at home depot and lowes and never had a problem. Just keep the air humid (hence the ziplock), set it and forget it, you should be fine. I pull the cuttings out of the pellet slowly after three days to check for signs of rooting. As soon as roots begin to develop, I put them in whatever medium I'm using. The pellets fall apart easily, so even if the roots are very developed, you can just rinse it right off in the sink. Good luck!

I never liked the jiffy pellets as they seemed to hold too much water. I prefer the rapid rooters which seem to hold a good amount of water and air. If you haven't already made your purchase, I'd suggest going in another direction.

I use jiffy pellets. I soak them in warm water and a drop or two of Super thrive. I shake (not squeeze) them to pull some water back out.
Take cutting, slice cutting stem a little, water dip, powder root hormone, into the pellet and squeeze to make sure the stem is set.
I don't PH the water. Then under a humidity dome. No problems. Rock wool dries out to fast for me as I am a little lazy. :)

Oh yea, the pellets will fit nicely into a rock wool square. I start in pellets to rock wool and into clay pellets in an ebb and flow system. The rock wool will filter and keep the dirt inside it and not leak it out.

Oasis cubes! I like jiffy pellets for the most part, but they have downsides. I don't like the fact that the material doesn't like to stay sealed around the stem, and they hold a lot of water for a long time, which can be good, but usually works against me.

I just built an aerocloner that works fine for about 50 bucks, but I still like oasis cubes. As long as you keep them in a tray of water, or on a dwc system they kick ass.

This is an easy way to do some cuts.First a healthy plant in veg with some good branching, side and top views.
I use an old cutting board,a rusty razor, sharp fine pointed scissors and roottech gel.
You don't need any hormones at all to take cuts successfully but it speeds up the process and the plants are less beat up by the time they root.
How the branch looks removed with nodes attached and stripped off,I just pinch them off be careful not to kink the stem.......kinking is bad.
Stick in gel let sit for 30 seconds or so.
In this case I'm using peat pellets but it'll work in just about anything that will keep the cut from drying out while it's rooting.
Soak the pellets overnight or they'll suck the moisture outta the cuts with bad results.
Poke hole in pellet, stick cut all the way down again careful not to kink the stem.
Form pellet around stem,gently.......then dunk in water to replace what ya squeezed out by forming then put in a dome.I'm using a cake box, they come in a huge variety of shapes and sizes plus ya getta cake.......fucking A.
In this case they're about 12"s under a 42 watt cfl, just leave'em alone they don't like being messed with.
Roots take anywhere from 5 to 15 days depending on plant and temp,I will take some pics and explain how I quick harden them off and pot'em when these root.
Now the donor plant provided 6 cuts and has 4 main branches, ready to be up-potted and flowered tomorrow.
