I have a 400 CFM fan and phat filter 6x16 filter that's new (2months old) but I just went up into my attic an my attic reaked, I noticed the smell in my house but not in my grow room so I suspected my attic was leaking the odor...... What am I to do?

I pushed the dryer hose more towards my eves which is where it can allow air to escape.

My next time around I believe I'm going to have dryer hose line to send the air outside and not in my attic

Please give me some help.

are you running fan at max ? it might not have time to scrub odor out. check to see CFM for filter, or try slowing fan down. make sure all duct connections are tight and not leaking.

Obviously your filter does not work. How long youve been using it? If not long, you might have not sealed it well. Or your filter just sucks, try mountain air next time. I have zero odour coming out my exhaust. Thats the way it should b

Oh sorry, reread your post. Seems your pushing too much air. Hence filter not working and house stinking and grow room not stinking. Therefore you need a speed controller. Cheap and easy fix. Too much air and carbon filters r useless.

CFM is 402 it's the sunleaves wind tunnel model.

My PHAT filter is 6x16 prorated

Specs online say max scrub rate is 375 CFM

The recommended single pass filtering is 200 so maybe I should tone the speed controller should be set to half speed then, right?

from what i been researching toning it down will definitely help, or even eliminate your problem... like sourpuss stated, if you push too much air to fast through the carbon filter it basically just goes in and out, like when it goes in one ear and out the other lol :blsmoke:... to fast the carbon filter has no contact with the air and cannot perform its duties or scrub the air... good luck to ya mate

i always like to exhaust outside my place even with a filter. that way the air isnt sitting around. just make sure its not where anyone will be where they will see anything or smell it. with a good filter you should be able to scrub the air pretty good at high cfms. i had a 8 inch 720 CFM fan suck air through 2 8 inch hoods and a huge 8 inch carbon filter and we vented under my friends porch from the basement. you couldnt smell a thing walking into that house. maybe the filter is low quality.

Phat filter is a decent brand and I was in fact pushing to much air, compared to what my specs say on my CFM an filter
