Hey there peeps - please advise:

Whilst doing some fan adjustments i managed to switch my light timer (600w HPS - dual spec) so it was on all night and my girls (currently on veg 18/6) had no sleep - AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

This was the night before last night and i have just switched them back to the normal schedule but what i am wondering is since im ready to flower them (was due to switch to 12/12 today) should i wait and let them settle back into normal light schedule or just switch to 12/12.

PS. My last crop had a plant hermie and caused me to chop early (only 5 weeks flower) and these plants are Big Bang and White Widow.

Any advice is much appreciated.

EA.

i would give them 24 hours of dark and then start 12/12.. either that, or let them go through the 18/6 once more then switch to 12/12. you should be fine either way.

Don't think its going to be a problem, lighting in the wild is not as routine as indoor growers make them, I am sure that this wont affect anything, I would just stick to the plan.

I would have switched to 12 hours dark right after that.. not sure I guess its too late for you. I would not suggest giving them 24 hours of darkness though, I don't think this is going to actually help the plant, it will actually be the opposite IMO.

I also like to gradually step down to 12/12 instead of going from all to half all at once. I usually give 1-2 hours more of darkness per night until it hits 12/12. Not sure that this does anything helpful, but it seems to mimic what would happen outside better and maybe stresses the plant out less as it transitions into the bud phase.

Does anyone else do this or do you just go straight to 12/12 in one night?

ive been told sum 24 hour lighting during veg keeps it dormant and remains in the growth phase so i really cant see any harm in it

I just flip to 12/12, i dont think you'll find a veteran on here who does it that way your saying, its not needed and just lengthens the process while giving the plant less light than normal vegging flipping to 12/12 would. if it worked we would all use it, trust me. lol

Hehe, yeah, that's why I was asking. It's not something I ever read to do, it's just something I thought of and have never really researched whether it was useful or not. :)

darkdestruction420 is absolutely correct buddy, just switch them bad ladies to 12/12 and you are good. I have had a light mixup many a time during veg...it doesn't cause a problem. You are fine. There's nothing you gain by decreasing your light period gradually to a 12/12...just straight to the flower light period and happy growing.

WOW! So many responses - Thanks peeps, really encouraging that so many of you are willing to help out with advice and put my mind at rest.

My plants (4 x Big Bang (2 are clones & 2 new fem seeds) & 2 x White Widow) are looking great after a watering yesterday and a couple of days getting back into the veg cycle so on with the flowering tommorrow!!!! WOOO HOOOO!!!!

As mentioned my previous crop had a hermie so the bud was a bit seeded and only had 5 weeks flower but it was still a tasty toke that got me chilled so all good (apart from the low yield 2.5 oz from 3 plants).

Thanks again folks - i may start a new journal soon - just for the bud period, was a bit disilusioned with RIU a couple of weeks back as i had little response during my hermie probs but thanks to you lot i may find the time to post again - Cheers.
